Definite no-no, why would you!
I detest anything black PVD, horrible things IMO, but putting a black steel bracelet on a gold watch takes it to another level.
I want to get a few opinions on this. I'm having my doubts, hence the thread. A gold watch head with a black leather strap can be seen as a nice combination, maybe also with rubber depending on the style of the watch. However, what is your opinion on a black PVD/DLC coated steel bracelet on a gold watch head? Is this a big no and should not even be considered? I've tried searching online and couldn't find examples of this and just wanted the opinions of other people out there.

Black and gold together are gaudy. A gold watch with a dark brown strap is a lovely combination. All IMHO of course.

Can’t see a problem with black leather straps and gold, almost all my watches are on black straps and that includes a few gold ones. I very rarely wear brown clothes or shoes , I prefer blues /greys/black, so it makes sense to have black watchstraps. Watchstrap, belt and shoes should be the same colour, that’s my rule, I’ll never understand the trend for wearing brown shoes with dark blue suits!
I wear a gold watch with a black leather strap when I wear a dinner jacket. I wear the same watch on a brown leather strap when dressed less formally. Plus it works for Bond. :)
For comparison purposes:-
I'm not a gold colour watch fan but on black or brown leather straps they do look right, on a PVD I couldn't even imagine that. Just No.
