I love my PO 2500XL and it is the watch I wear most. Despite my love for GS dials, I find something about the PO's dial and hands attractive and interesting in different lighting situations. The thinish case and bracelet both make it a fantastic all-rounder. This thread has caused me to look into the two special editions made in the 2500s time, the Liquid Metal & 007 Solace. Both are 42mm and neither seems as appealing as the standard watch to my eyes, although an LM would be a little more tempting if Omega had of made an XL version.

The PO is the watch that would be most likely to lead me to own one watch or to form the core of a small collection.

What upgrades? The 2500C receives no special upgrades when serviced. The triple layer coax escapement as seen on the D can not be retro fitted. It makes zero difference in use anyway, the C is fine, the same can not be said for the earlier A and B spec though.

Never liked the 8500 as it wore too big.
    The 8900 is perfect.
Here it is next to the muted Pelagos.
