Incredible - lovely watch

Happy Easter everyone!
40 years ago to the day, I purchased my 16800 Submariner.
Still have it, still wear it and still treasure it.
I was working abroad and this upmarket hotel I was stationed at (unfortunately) had a shopping mall. Cut a long story short, my purchase meant I had to check out and find somewhere cheaper to stay as I had spent rather more than I could afford!
I still love the handwritten invoice I was given, and the fact that the watch cost all of $810.00 (about £600.00) at the exchange rate at the time!
Apart from my name and the model number on the invoice, all other details are long since changed.
Anyone else have long termers still with them, with relevant paperwork worth keeping?

That's fabulous and with its original 'green' dot anchor
Excellent How many services has it had in 40 years?
Yup I did the same with about my 6th wage packet, bought a 16800 in 1984, rrp was about £760 and I paid about £570, still got boxes, tags receipt, booklets etc, plus service receipts from Rolex, over the last 20 years, I've probably only worn it a handful of times,

Thanks.
I reckon about 5 services throughout it’s days, usually through an AD, but the last one was in 2015 when I took it to St James personally to see what all the fuss was about!
I wore it daily for umpteen years and there was a real panic once when I somehow must have knocked the bezel off, didn’t notice and eventually looked to see the time and had a cold sweat as the watch appearance had changed so much I thought someone had had my watch away and replaced it!

Great story OP. .I have a full set 16800 purchased off this very forum quite a few years ago. I absolutely treasure it and the only time it will leave me is when I leave this planet and my grandson takes ownership.
Congrats. I bought my 16750 in 1986; I've had it for a bit less than 37 years.
Somewhere I do have a receipt for £697 (I think) from a jeweller's in Newcastle but I have no idea where in the house it is. I do at least know where the watch is.
Great post OP - another 20 years and I'll be able to say the same about my first Omega PO :)

Bought my Chronoswiss Kairos thirty years ago, cost almost the same as a Submariner at the time.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
Bought my 1st seadweller from same store (called Swiss Stores now) 16 years ago along with similar hand written receipt :)
Some proper keepers in this thread, especially the OP.
Congrats.

Really enjoying this thread. Great hearing about everyone’s long term companions.
Bought my steel and gold blue sub in 2000. Have complete set including receipt and the carbon paper thing.
Will post some pics when I get it out the safe.
