Shocked to read this when I woke up this morning.
He seems such a genuine human being and I’m glad he found happiness in his life.
Passed away 67 funny man and such a great Ambassador for Battersea Dogs home.

Shocked to read this when I woke up this morning.
He seems such a genuine human being and I’m glad he found happiness in his life.
I had the pleasure to meet him on many occasions around the Liverpool clubs and bars in the late 80s as he was developing the persona of Lily Savage.
A lovely guy, and champion for both gay and canine rights.
I’m genuinely saddened.
His work for animals was incredible.
They’ll be some Rainbow Bridge reunions today…
Rest in Peace
The Dogs Trust have lost a true champion

Oh crikey - he’s pretty local to me -
Oh what a shock! R.I.P. Paul. Such a shock…..
Always came across as a genuinely nice bloke. RIP
Shocked and saddened, loved his humour, his accent, everything about him. RIP xx
Wasn't my cup of tea really, but he did seem to be quite a genuine person amongst the world of 'celebs'.
Funnily enough I was only thinking yesterday that he seemed to have not been on TV recently after having seen a photograph of someone else who I mistook for him.

Very sad. I don’t know why, but I used to love his Radio 2 slot on a Sunday evening (and especially the dead dogs segment) when cooking the Sunday dinner with a glass of red. A natural broadcaster and an interesting life all round. RIP.
He lived in my village. I have nothing but good things to say about him, genuinely nice and kind. He was our crowd puller for the school fete and made a point of making himself available every year when I was with the PTFA, despite a very busy schedule.
RIP

Sorry to hear this. Definitely one of the good guys as per his support for dogs charities. RIP Sir.
I was never a fan of his Lily Savage character, but really warmed to him when he was being himself, particularly on his Sunday evening radio show and the various dog programmes.
He always seemed to be a very caring and compassionate man.
RIP
What a shock. RIP Paul. You'll be back with all your loyal companions.
Really funny guy, especially on the radio. Very sad, far to young. RIP Paul
Did so much for dogs who had a bad start, and seemed very caring.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
That's sad news - he was no age.
The work he did with dogs was really heartwarming.
RIP Paul.
Cheers,
Neil.
Do we know the cause? Proper shocked to hear and saddened.

Blimey.
What a surprise.
Too young.
Really like him as a presenter. Very sharp and humorous.
RIP Paul.
His passing has cropped up in Parliament and so appears on another thread, see this post for a couple of links.
A real shock to hear of Paul's passing.
I loved listening to him on radio 2, especially the banter between him and Malcolm, very funny.
He will be missed by so many.
Class act. V natural presenter. A guy whose company I enjoyed, albeit not in person.

With the out pouring of grief across the nation, it just goes to show how popular and talented he was. As said he will be sorely missed and the doggie world will miss him the most.

Three major heart attacks in the early 2000’s, after being a 60 a day smoker
Big history of heart disease in the family, father, mother and sister.
His father dropped dead of a cardiac arrest on being told that his mother who’d had a heart attack, wouldn’t last the night.
The Dr told Paul if he could state broken heart as a cause of his fathers death he would.
His mother recovered and lived for another 12 years.
I used to enjoy his humour & sharp wit he showed during his chat shows both on the tv & radio. Also capable of delivering a cutting retort that was so often loaded with truth that the recipient was left astounded. A Great man who believed so strongly in his kind of people, he will be sorely missed.
RIP Paul
RIP Paul. I loved his Sunday evening show on Radio 2. Always made me laugh.
It's not that he couldn't, it's not that he wouldn't, it was because he had a lamp post attached to his back
God bless you Paul O'Grady
RIP
