Christoper Ward Sealander or Sealander Elite?
Both sporty and interesting. If you don’t mind wearing a watch called Christopher.
I've always had a thing for watches with date at 6, and realise it might have been at least 10 years since I last had one. I've had a couple of Oris divers but my preference these days is for something different, perhaps no rotating bezel. Decent water resistance would be handy, say 100m minimum. Happy to consider micro brands. Budget up to 1.5k. What do you recommend?

Nomos make lovely watches and I think their dates are mostly at 6. Here’s mine…

Pah! I see your date at 6 and raise you a day-date.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
I didn't think I had any watches with a 6 date but then I checked:
Majex (with patina a plenty on the dial), Omega Seamaster, Heuer Autavia GMT and a Fortis Marinemaster.

The only one I can think of is the one I am wearing today.
I'll see if I can find any others.
Just one I think.

Seamaster 120 multifunction, have various things at 6...
I quite like the symmetry with the date at 6. Turns out I've had a few variations with that layout...

Aerowatch '1942':
Well, and I hesitate to recommend this watch for one fairly obvious reason, the "Poljot Okeah" is a good and reasonably priced option:
However, there are a few downsides
1) it is Russian (I now wear mine on a Ukrainian colours NATO)
2) not particularly waterproof
3) hand wound rather than automatic (although I don't necessarily see that as a downside)

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about this one.

My Sinn 105. Available in black dial and with or without UTC. The non-UTC give you a day and date at 6.
Or there’s the 836 with no rotating bezel.

There is also the Oris 65 diver, with modest waterproof credentials, but a slim profile and a nice vintage vibe. It also has one of the most subtle date windows around:-

Ooh, the Sinn 836 and the Speedbird are right on the button. That Oris 65 is also lovely.
Date at 6, on the 6th.

I know you said ‘no Christopher Ward watches’ but here’s one anyway, recent purchase, Dune GMT 38mm.

Didn't know I had this many!
My only date at 6 watches are the Autavia's. I'm generally at date at 3 man.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I've got a couple although it's not necessarily something I've deliberately chosen (date at 6), more I like the overall design:
