Until 45, no pills whatsoever. 51 now, 1 weekly arthritis pill, 1 weekly anti arthritis pill side effect pill, 1 daily blood pressure pill. I don't count things like daily benecol, or occasional pain killers for when the arthritis pill doesn't quite do it's job.

    Do I win?

Up until the age of 57 in 2010 I had never popped a pill (apart from the odd aspirin) in my life.

It's sometimes not a lot of fun getting old.

    Amlodipine - 5mg - daily - blood pressure
    Ramipril - 10mg - daily - blood pressure
    Prednisolone - 2mg to 5mg - daily - polymyalgia rheumatica
    Atorvastin - 20mg - daily - statin
    Omeprazole - 20mg - daily - gastro resistant
    theical-D3 - 1000mg - daily - vitamin D3
    Alendronic Acid - 70mg - weekly - osteoporosis

Taking all those pills is better than the alternative though.

Me? Gabapentin thrice daily for arthritis and Tamsulosin once a day for BPH.

Nothing until hayfever season (and I normally start early with tree pollen).

Then it's one Loratidine before bed - I find it make me feel really 'odd' if I take in the daytime but taken before bed I have weird-as-**** dreams but no hayfever the following day with no 'oddness'.

I just started 20mg daily Elvanse this week.

Haven't noticed it doing anything yet, so will increase on Monday (as instructed).

I take loads of the bloody things 22 a day in total just had Entresto added to my list, my ICD/ pacemaker went haywire a couple of weeks ago it’s pacing all the time and my hearts out of sync causing dizziness and shortness of breath.

They spotted it on my home monitor called me in im in Wednesday to have the ICD removed and a CRT put in god bless ‘em I thought my time was up.

No driving for six weeks though.

Is this the Pharma appreciation thread?

I am sure there will be the usual tin foil hat wearers coming to tell you all that you are being brainwashed and don’t need all this rubbish.

Just have a nice cup of camomile tea and some primrose oil in the evening!

You have my sincere sympathy. I presume some of the tablets are taken to counteract the side effects of others and so on…?

Not sure how we compare, I take 10 diff meds.

    Amlodipine 10mg tablets
    Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg tablets
    Carvedilol 25mg tablets
    Docusate 100mg capsules
    Entresto 97 mg/103mg tablets
    Eplerenone 25mg tablets
    Hydralazine 50mg tablets
    Lansoprazole 30mg
    Senna 15mg tablets
    Warfarin 1mg tablets

This translates into 28 tablets through the day. V complicated heart history plus high BP. Clearly some of the meds counter the side effects of others. Sigh. Any advance?

Still figuring it out but currently 50mg lisdexamphetamine daily, at 34 years old. Other than the absolute clown fiesta in my brain, a picture of health with no other medications.

Only two prophylactic meds for me. Not bad for a 61yr old. But my wife is 69 and no meds at all.

I do take five multi-vitamin and various supplements as prescribed by my wife (trained nutritional therapist) - for osteoporosis and others like B1 etc.

Bloody loads! To be honest, I sometimes lose track of what they are and what they’re for. As someone else said though, the alternative is far, far worse.

Take care and enjoy every day as much as you possibly can.

At the pub last week amongst similarly aged friends, there was a lull in the conversation and one of the five suddenly dropped the 'V' bomb.

Only one of the group had used Viagra but had them suffered from a thumping headache and had to bale out during the act and lay down in a dark room for 20 minutes.

For those of a similar age and affliction, what is the general opinion? More trouble than its worth or a useful extension (pun intended) of their active service life?

I had a stiff neck for a week.

Oxypro and Shortec every day, twice a day. Never allowed to even make coffee as I can easily pour the water on the counter.

Got diagnosed with high blood pressure 3.5 years ago (I'm 51 now), so am on meds for that. Totally out of the blue, no signs of it before I got myself checked (I'd got a tick bite so only went to the doctor's to get a does of antibiotics for that), I suspect I'm lucky that I did.

58 and don't take anything though perhaps largely as I never go to the GP!

That said I am fit (keen cyclist), not overweight and BP is fine.

I feel very lucky to be in this position and just hope it continues for as long as possible...I know the inevitable day will come at some point.

Not permanent but im taking naproxen and a low dose of amitriptyline at the moment for a frozen shoulder which is nearly back to normal.

Other than that, occasional paracetamol or ibuprofen as and when.

Just Vitamin D for me. Apparently it's a good one to top up on in the UK, or so I'm told.
