Aera D-1 Divers watch - anybody got one?

Wondering if any forum members have got an Aera D-1 divers watch and what your thoughts are?

I'm quite drawn to it, it seems to be a bit different..... as much as a diver can be but I do like some of the features like the dial.

    I will await my roasting

    Cheers, Paul

I don't own one but I do like both of their offerings. They look well built with some nice design cues, but I think they have gone in a bit high with their retail prices. I would like to handle one.

I've been very close to pushing the button a few times but agree that it seems a bit steep for a micro brand albeit they seem to have gone the extra mile on materials and the finer details...... I need a weak willed TZUK member to take the initial hit and immediately sell it on the SC.

In all fairness, the reviews by owners seem to be very positive....

They have done well with the 904L steel and the dial design is quite stunning. It's just the £1200 retail for the diver that holds me back. That's used Tuna 1000m money as an example. You can buy some really well built micro brand dive watches for £200 to £300 at present but I'm guessing the Area is superbly built based on the feedback. I'm still tempted and I'm weakening.

There hasn’t been anything to get my juices flowing for quite some time but their divers piece speaks very loudly to me.

Just looked it up, hadn't heard of it before.

I have to say that it's perfect as a dive watch. That dial is simply superb as is the simple but excellent bezel.

I agree that the £1,200 price tag is quite high as it puts the watch into a territory which is filled with unbelievably high quality pieces with heritage, but I guess it depends on just how good quality the Aera is. It would have to have a very good bracelet though for that money (for me anyway).

I'd like to see one in the metal before calling a yay or nay on it.

The renderings look very nice indeed! Would love to see one in the flesh. Their pilots watch is not too shabby either.

Never heard of them either, but like a lot, esp the Pilot one.

Hovered over the buy button a few times, love the design and always great to support a UK start up.

Lovely looking watch… I like that it’s 904L steel, you don’t see that very much. Seems like a keen price too.

I've been back and forth on this one, I had a short list of -

    1. Used Bremont s2000 (sensibly priced)
    2. Oris depth gauge
    3. Oris aquis pro diver GMT just under £2k new
    4. Aera D1 diver

After much back and forth and discussions with the team at Aera I pulled the trigger last week, it's due for delivery on Wednesday

I will post a review and pictures over the coming weeks

Excellent. Cant wait to see it and hear your thoughts. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been on their website and looked at the D1. Pretty much decided that it will be my next purchase.

I keep revising the website off the back of this thread - but I can't decide between diver and pilot (I want both!). I'll be interested to see your review.

That looks very nice indeed. I'm loving the dish dial and touch of blue.

Well, it's arrived and I'm impressed. It's been a busy day in work and had no time to properly look at it but initial impressions are very good indeed!!

I'll take some better pictures over the weekend and share a proper review.

It wears smaller than you'd imagine, it's short lug to lug.

    It looks great.

I've lost count how many times I've been on their site to buy the Pilot or Diver then changing my mind, even after chatting to Jas and Olof, the brand owners.

I'm impressed with the 904L steel and that cleverly designed dial.

Great looking watch (well, they both are), very harmonious dial, which is not something I can say too often about modern divers' watches.

I see that Aera are launching two new watches on the 11th of May. There appears to be a blue dial 300m diver and a pilot with raised arabics. They are also suggesting that they have upgraded movements, not that I dislike their current Sellita movements or their current Pilot and Diver. Two fantastic looking watches.

    This should be interesting.

Good looking watches and specs, reasonable price as well, if that Selitta is a top grade version.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
