    JLC The Collectibles

Just spotted this on their instagram, I wonder how many they would sell but if money were no object I’d definitely be getting the shark deep sea!

Some very nice watches there. Missed an opportunity to reintroduce the Master Quartz, which was I believe the first watch to use a 32Khz quartz movement (from GP).

I think that would be a hit if re-released.

Similarly Omega could revive the Megaquartz and Rolex the Oyster Quartz. This 70's nostalgia won’t last forever

Thank you, yes it’s mine. Not the only one on the forum I believe.

It is a well-made thing. The design would be popular today, I believe.

That's indeed very nice, and would have been nice to reintroduce. Looks great, and seems extremely well put together. Condition looks amazing for the age, especially with all the brushing and defined edges utilised.

I take it these are original NOS pieces from their archive rather than re-issues? Wasn’t very clear from their website blurb

I think you are right. JLC-restored vintaged pieces. https://monochrome-watches.com/news-...-rare-watches/

    Not sure I've understood this.

Aren't we meant to avoid restoring vintage items in general?
Are JLC buying old watches and polishing them, new dials where required?
Or are they highly sympathetic restorations? How are they priced?

More info here: https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/gb-...e-collectibles. (Call me cynical but) Prices for old watches seems a bit steep.

Ah they’re showing the prices now, when I first checked it said POA on all watches. They’ve lost their marbles a bit unless there’s a story behind each watch.

Longines do a similar thing, click watches then collectors corner on the Longines website.

I suspect that JLC will struggle to include any Master Quartz in The Collectibles as their record of support has been completely abysmal. They either seem to charge like a wounded rhino to replace the movement with a very basic ETA quartz or refuse to do anything at all.

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

59k for an old Geophysic? they better hired some top marketing people in.. Although a JLC fan myself I feel that such prices - at this point in time, look extortionate.. nonetheless!

£59,000 for a re-issue of this original? Really? Ever since I bought this there's been a stream of re-issues. Does that make the original less valuable?

The one on the JLC was an original from 1968, not the reissue from 2008…or the modernised 2018 version
