MN strap width vs lug width

Hi All - I’ve ordered an 18mm MN strap for my 17.5mm lug width Seagull. Now I’m wondering whether this may have been a mistake! Any experiences out there to share please on tolerances etc?

    Thanks,
    James

0.5mm of difference between the lugs will not make a real difference, don’t worry!
As the MN strap is elastic it will look fine, as it compresses a bit

It would depend on the maker and material used
EO are now true to size where as previously they were a bit wider when using old surplus material (20.5mm give it take)

Others will vary but I doubt you will notice .5mm difference on the wrist

    Doubt you’ll notice it.

Thanks! It is an EO indeed, although it is one of their soon-to-be discontinued colours, so hoping now it isn’t too old stock!

Nice colours. The strap probably cost more than the watch.

Thanks! Not quite; it’s an authentic Seagull.

Good colour choice. FWIW, I'm wearing a 22mm EO right now, and it's a perfect 22mm!

MN strap width vs lug width

Nice choice OP suits the watch
To try to illustrate what I mean by the very first NOs strap being slightly wider than 20mm

As you can see it is maybe 20.5/21mm instead of 20mm
The very first straps used the hard wear from the webbing as well which I really like.
I don’t mind the over lap as it suits the scruffy nature of the watch
I have an original MN issued strap which is a continuous stitched band of the same material without buckle and it’s identical in width
I am a big fan of EO straps.

I guess it would have been easier to measure the thickness of the material in the first place!
    As you can see 21mm

And yes I have a NATO problem
