Wow, £4k for a watch the colour of Lime Source Shower Gel! Not for me, even if it does have a picture of Kermit in the date window. Odd.

    That's totally pathetic pricing.

Just when IWC were showing hope.

The choice to stick with an ‘in-house’ upgraded ETA copy and soft iron antimagnetic inner core makes the Ingenieur a sort semi-historical reproduction or re-issue. A few of the best recent refinements have been maintained, with the modern bracelet and crown guards, while other parts feel bit closer to the Genta version. No doubt they would be encouraged by VC’s very faithful 222 reissue and perhaps even GS’s heritage collection reissues. But it’s not quite a living modern watch in terms of the movement, when Omega and now Tudor and others are making genuinely anti-magnetic METAS certified watches for less. It becomes a (rather expensive) souvenir of how anti-magnetism used to be achieved in the old days.

FWIW I quite like it if money was no object, though the crown guards might push the dimensions slightly beyond my comfort zone. They did with the slim but slab-like previous version where they seemed to blend into the case from some angles. They may have fixed that on this one though, they’re certainly redesigned and we’re assured it wears well for its size.

Although I actually quite like it - dial is a bit flat but otherwise…

Another massive watch from GS. I don’t know why they can’t make their offerings more wearable.

    Very odd indeed!

Lime Source Shower Gel is exactly what came to mind when I saw the photos, how very bizarre.

The new Chanel J12 'Cybernetic' from W&W. Not at all my taste, but a really striking watch. Apparently to represent the melding of digital world with hours, celebration of the pixel, blah, blah.

IWC also released some new Pilots which went under the radar a bit with all the fuss over the Ingenieur. 41.9mm ceramic chronographs in black and blue. I've always liked the black Top Gun chrono but it's been too big at 44mm. This size should work much better. I suspect white Lake Tahoe and Mojave versions will come later this year.

I agree - the new Carreras look really good. Will be interesting to see the proportions in person, especially thickness, but I really like the curves in the crystal and dial.

Largely agree, but tiny silver hands against silver subdials? Perfect if you never plan to use it as a chronograph...

Where did you see that reported?

I really like the various vintage inspired Carreras TAG have released over the past few years. Not so keen on the modern stuff. This seems like a cool in between but not sure I’d pick it over the recent Panda / Montreal etc. I’m looking forward to trying one in time though.

They’re also asking for speedie pro money. I wonder how many people would choose a Carrera over a moonwatch (excluding me!)

That is very nice. I seem to remember seeing a Carrera tourbillon from W&W. Amazing achievement, but does the marriage of Carrera and tourbillion work?!

Agree with that. A little black paint on those chrono hands would work wonders. Also just spotted the date at 12.... not sure I've seen that on a "mainstream" watch before? Like the look of it overall though.

Overall good watch, wished they skipped the date at 12 also, would have made it hard to resist. Though the 12 date does reference vintage models so semi justifiable. The blue version has the date at 6

The pixel design on the dial is certainly striking. But once they went the whole way and made the whole right hand side of the case out of giant pixels, it became a sort of conceptual art piece that is saying, what exactly? That the world used to be analogue and now it’s digital? Blah blah blah, indeed. It’s hard to imagine why someone would spend a no doubt insane sum to make this particular public ’statement’. It reminds me of the perplexing Swiss sense of humour over at Moser with their analogue Apple Watch. I’ve never got that joke either, and I have no idea what point this pixel watch is trying to make.

These however, just look cool (in a Cruella de Vil way), they’re black and white because they can be and that’s enough. It’s certainly working for this lady:

This has piqued my interest. The new offering by Austrian watchmaker Carl Suchy. The Belvedere is designed in Austria and manufactured in Switzerland. It comes in black, white and this blue version. The first edition is limited to 100 pieces.

Wow, those are really striking, hadn't seen those. Surprised they made two 'midway' models as well as full black, full white and the split. Actually really interesting design concept, and much better than 'the pixel'!

Was very taken with De Bethune's new, elegant, minimalist chono the DB Eight -

...then I saw the price: £90,000!

I mean, you don't expect Casio prices from haute horlogerie, but seriously?

Indeed, curious cases are something of a house speciality, though this one seems fairly sleekly minimalist (lugs aside), so should wear pretty discretely. I like it FWVLIW, it's an agreeable change from the me-too stuff of the mainstream.

Honestly I do think they are taking the piss with the pricing for that model.
"Sir, can I interest you in our most basic three hander with the finest ETA 2892 clone adorned with a fancy rotor? All yours for the very reasonable price of EUR 6.400, comes with all the cachet of our microbrand operating since 2017 and of course the heritage we just 'revived'."

”Gold PLATED” fancy rotor. Obviously explains the cost! :)

    Love that.

I nearly bought a 'climate action' special edition that looked more toy-like. But they're just too expensive for what they are, imo.

I handled one of these this morning. It's rather nice with it's great case lines and box crystal. I liked it but as said before, it would have been perfect with a Heuer only branded dial.
