Oh dear. What do you call that finish? Kept in a sack of loose change for 10 years then grit for another 10?? I like a bit of patina or wabi but that just looks knackered!

  2. #302
And the bracelet doesn't look to have the same amount of "damage".

    Odd.

    But isn’t that the point?

I understand a bit of patina but imho that just looks knackered. If people want to buy a pre- knackered watch for big money that’s fine by me. But it’s not something I’m personally interested in.

Massena Labs have announced another collaboration with Mathey Tissot, this time on the Mergulhador model in 99 pieces. There was early access for previous customers today (I did buy one) as the watch is stunning but I can't post the early access password on here as the Massena Ts and Cs forbid it until it goes on general release tomorrow (if any are left then). But for anyone who has bought from Massena before check your email as there will be an early access password to view and buy the watch

All sold out now, I hope someone else here managed to snag one as I suspect like the Type XX chrono they did with Mathey these will have gone to scalpers

I picked one up last month for a little under £3k and I'm quite impressed with it, the movement and 10 year warranty is spot on, I just need to find 'the perfect strap' for it now
A heads up for anyone interested, I saw on CW Sellors & Jura today that they can now be had for only £2362.5! bugger

Looks good. Rights the only slight annoyance with the Smiths Caribbean in having a dive bezel. Although it’s a fussier design, which is a shame. Tempting though.

I have a feeling one of these might be on its way to me soon. They pretty good value, my Helson Sharkmaster 600 is the only micro brand I have ever kept the quality is fantastic.
I really liked the Smiths take on them but it did not last long in the collection.

Quite nice these new Credor Goldfeathers… 37mm wide and only 7.7mm thick due to the 1.98mm thin caliber 6890. And the best part? Only €22,000! Apologies to anyone who just spat coffee all over their laptop.

Fab! I’d love a Credor (Eichi is just stunning), but they are serious money and I’m not sure what I want will ever really be something I want to spend that sort of money on!

Cheeky little 'homage' from Mido - 'Multifort TV Big Date':

Not in the market, but I actually prefer the look vs. its inspiration.

At CHF1,070 - 1,100 depending on strap, it's very fairly priced, and having owned a couple, Mido's quality is easily up there with midstream Longines for example - unsurprising given they're also part of Swatch Group.

I think they could be quite popular at that price.
I think they are better looking than some of the watches the ape. The blue is not bad and I usually hate this type of watch.

Agreed. I'm a sucker for a big date too - even if this one is in a very silly place on the dial...

Blue on the blue rubber has a lot of appeal to me, but I already have the rather similar Armand Nicolet I never wear, so...

It is a strange place to have the date and with the bezel pip above I think that area becomes a bit busy. Although overall a good effort. Blue on rubber would be my choice.

This is absolutely something to remember, particularly when looking at accessible 'cheaper' watches. I have a collection of quartz pieces that just sit in a drawer unworn and I regularly have to stop myself buying stuff that will suffer the same fate. They can add up as well. My man maths says its better to wait and buy another decent watch you'll definitely wear than a drawer load of tat you won't.

Im guessing it’s a derivative of the Tissot powermatic 80 so should be ok.

Very sensible and I wish someone had told this when I was younger, that said I am currently enjoying wearing older cheaper watches that I have had for years. You realise why you bought them in the first place. It’s almost like getting a new watch.

I registered my interest in this... but that's a lot of cash. Superb looking watch [IMHO] but at that price... I think its a no from me.

    sorry
No doubt it's easier to justify at this price than at list, light as a feather can barely notice it on the wrist

That blue Mido is a great option.

I've also had a few nice models from Fortis popping up on social media. Too expensive though - this one's over £4k.

I agree that looks good. Fortis have definitely started pricing their watches unrealistically. I really like their stratoliner but that’s 5.3k! For a Fortis!

This sort of price is quickly becoming the norm from the more main stream brands. Any watch from a Rolex, breitling, IWC, zenith, JLC etc seems to be 6k and up.

You hate it. That's quite the horror Seiko have put together. A rejected design for Diesel by the looks of it.

That looks lovely, and great to see a bezel which isn't glossy ceramic.

Fortis have been designing some great looking, contemporary watches recently but I don't know whose buying them at the money they are asking?!
Can't be many people or they must be amazing because I never see them for sale used.

I really like the look of the Breitling 1964 re-edition, but not at £7150

    Limited to 164 pieces
