What my wife would refer to as an “Action Man knobhead watch”.

    I absolutely love this

    But there's one caveat.
I don't usually have an issue with 44mm at all. I have a few. But this will wear massive, given the (relative) lack of bezel. Too big and not for me because of that.
    But aesthetically it's superb.

It does look lovely, but I am a bit flummoxed by the choice of such an overtly art deco font for the main dial numeration (especially as all other numerals and fonts are so functional and classic/modern)

    Nice watch.

It looks a bit like this, so a similar dial colour, black chapter ring and the big pushers. I know the Seiko has the vertical clutch and column wheel.

Tried on a couple of the WOS Grand Seiko editions tonight at an event. It's about time we had some decent colours but these won't be for everyone!

I would find a lot more to love in the Grand Seiko catalogue if they offered 'no date' options on these kinds of models.

Agreed. At least they could colour coordinate the date wheel.

Just picked the black one up at 20% off from first class watches. Seems a lot of watch for the money, even has a helium valve for when my bath water gets really deep.

Aquastar have released a tribute to the Benthos.

    https://aquastar.ch/product/aquastar...-heritage-one/

Rumoured another version is due to be released with a modified movement to have the Chrono function. Think I’d prefer that one tbh although will be dearer. Might look out for this release pre owned.

I wonder how reliable this modified movement will be because customer service is pretty dire to say the least on all their management companies

It’s so close but a miss for me.

I would take a version with the chrono function though.

Received this morning. Comes in a nice Peli style case. Supplied textile strap is poor though so swapped it for a vintage tropic rubber. Wears just right on my 7” wrist.
    Loving it so far!

Those Doxas look very nice. Was about to say how one could be worth a shot, until i saw the price at the bottom of the article. Wow!!

Are they really £10000? For a doxa with a seamaster type dial? That’s pretty nuts

At one point I had a big collection of doxa watches now only have the three 50th anniversary doxa aqualung editions which I’ve been considering letting go

The prices are utterly ridiculous. Retail over say a Sub Date is beyond words if that is correct.

They look great and that new bezel makes the scratch magnet polished steel bezel look rather average.

That is taking the ******* ****.

When Doxa start trying to price like Rolex, despite the fact that only watch nerds have heard of them, and watch nerds know better than to pay this…reality is gonna give them a slap.

Not sure where they got 10000 from

2150 on rubber, 2190 on bracelet according to doxa

    Still expensive though

That's more like it. They must sell the set of five for £10k as a guess.

I like them a lot more now.

What is that letter after the 300?

What’s a set of three 50th anniversary aqualung editions worth now?

  39. #889
Think I'd rather have both the Certina and Aquastar shown above tbh

The black tipped hour hand is probably one of the worst design flaws ever. It looks awful on the other models too. It makes no sense at all.

The only choice here for me is the blue model. That does look good.

I agree, the green is really nice looking love the dial sort of reminds me of the Sartory Billard guilloche dials (Have a look on his website you will see what I mean) Never really understood why people would want the date to match the dial in most watches as surely if the date wheel is a different colour it would make it easier to read?

  46. #896
Been a while since I visited the Doxa website, having once bought a 750T Sea Rambler back in the heady WUS days of madness.

Umm, what has happened to the SUB600T?

Yes I did, so will add some pics and first impressions to the incoming thread, but not before an improved strap arrives in the post. The dial is very nicely done and I like the proportions. The crystal is more domed than I’d imagined, but is clearly a design choice that complements the case shape and may add water resistance. So far I like it!
