They don't spin for ages like a proper spinner, but quite relaxing to hold between thumb and middle finger and spin with your index finger. Like I said though mine was taken off a bike I owned and loved so meant more to me personally, not sure a new one would do it for me.

Tbh I'm not bothered about spin times, I know some spinner hobbyists are, but for me it's not about collecting or a hobby, it's only the hand feel for me and does it keep me occupied

Yes, I certainly find the act of spinning it more relaxing than any sort of spin time.

Yeah my 2 feel rubbish after.

I’ve ordered a SS bearing for one to see if can make it really smooth. The other I can’t work out how to remove it - looks like a retaining ring, but might be push fit.

There does not seem to be cheap bearing presses out there given the frequency I will be using it!

All my KAPs are push fit, can just change bearings at will

It not with your thumbs lol, you have a tool!

Was wondering about something like this and a correct sized washer as a budget remover?

FIRSTINFO Light Windscreen Wiper Arm Remover Removal Tool (Fit Opening Dimension: 0.59 Inch (15.2mm)) Internal Height: Approx. 1.06" (27.2mm) https://amzn.eu/d/4KvOkdW

As you can see, I’m trying to think outside the box for a cheap solution vs a hammer so bearings aren’t destroyed!

Thank you, will have a look at that and a trip to wickes or similar. Whilst I appreciate the craftsmanship with the KAP tool, for me it’s a means to an end - I don’t use a hammer often enough to have a posh one!

Just make sure when pressing bearings in to press on the side that is in contact with the bearing seat so that the bearings don't get damaged i.e. if it's being pressed into a hole which contacts the outside of the bearing, try and use a washer to put the pressure on the outside race of the bearing rather than the inner race.

    These bearings all have covers

I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean the dust seals, or something else? Do you have a link to the bearing?

I think I know what you mean, I have a purpose made bearing pusher, it does as you say it should

Yeah I meant the dust covers I misunderstood you

  22. #172
No problem, I had a couple of friends who raced BMX and were *very* particular about bearing install and setup. To the extent that they would take a new bearing, clean all the grease out and replace it with toothpaste then run the bearing on a drill to polish the races.

    Wife 'what are you doing'
Me 'taking the covers off the bearings , cleaning them with compressed air and pure alcohol then lubricating with bearing oil with acetone'

    Wife 'wtaf'

That clover needed nothing...hope it was another?

What lube you using? lol. I wonder if I need a heavier one vs trumpet lubes!

Clover is fine, just messing with the ultem, being so light it seems very sensitive to the bearing, I'm using some bearing oil someone recommended

Can send you some trumpet lube if you want to try it? Got recommended, it is so light, almost too light.

Sounds like a similar exchange with my wife on a regular occurrence, for a variety of little jobs I'm amusing myself with!

Be interesting on your thoughts on the triple vs a bar spinner. I’ve only had round or bars, well aside from the clover you lent me.

I've had triples and given them away to the family, my little collection of 5 KAPs caters for a moods but I suspect all I'll use is the Ultems

Your know the clover is mine, don't you!

Having now tried a new hybrid on my small MecArmy one, it was nastily noisy, and then a SS one (again noisy), I am back on the original bearing.

I just wanted to find a SS R188 that was butter smooth, but seems to be a challenge.

Might drown my SS one in engine oil and see what happens

That makes the clover almost too tempting to wait lol.

My smooth resin fabric worry thingy is a week already and not even in the UK according to RM tracking and that is only coming from NL...I could have cycled there by now!

Waiting for a calming stone, would actually appear to be rather stressful.

I took mine to the office today, forgot to collect them...the chance of them being there next Tuesday despite emailing the receptionist is low as people will know they aren't the £5 ones & we all hot desk.

    Arse bucket.

Yeah tempted, as the £40 commute is a cheaper option.

Awaiting for security to contact me and laugh at me (we get on well), also hoping in the morning there are a few people who might be in to help me.

Those that don't get them, just don't...my boss asked me if last week it was a fidget spinner & then asked me if I was 5.

I told her to piss off in a joking tone, she said I couldn't talk to her like that & I replied ditto

....this week she came in and showed me her new ones after trying mine lol.....which is where I didn't pick mine back up from.

Fingers crossed, and hope my EDC coin arrives soon, can't wait to see if it is rubbing or a circular motion than works for me fnarr fnarr
