    Rip Terry
Memories of misspent teenage years - some really excellent tracks - just love the video for ghost town
I’ll be up in the loft today for my old FBT vinyl
I was unaware of his teenage trauma - very sad

“The Specials” was the 1st album I bought from of all places Penny Lane Records.

I vividly remember the wait to get home to play it then playing “Gangster” & “Ghost Town” over and over until getting shouted at to turn it off.

Terry was unique so were the whole band.

R.I.P. Terry I shall be annoying Mrs H with every track today.

So many tracks of my teenage years. The Specials really caught the zeitgeist of that era.

    Wow! RIP Terry.

I had a night on the tiles with him many years ago. He was great fun - all dry humour and laconic wit.

    Another legend laid to rest.

The thought of what he was subjected to at the age of 12 (or any age for that matter) and being unable to tell anyone about it, or to talk about it until much later in his life. It just breaks your heart.

Had his demons, but managed great artistic success and escaped the grim fate of becoming a Coventry City fan.

Really shocked to hear this. I still listen to the first 2 Specials albums, takes me back a few years. Currently playing the first album on vinyl at rather high volume, an absolute classic. Can’t believe it’s over 40 years since this came out, makes me wonder where the years have gone.

Edit: The production and mastering on the original vinyl edition of ‘Specials’ is excellent! Forgotten just how good it sounds, even to my old ears.

Fantastic musical legacy but no age at all.....

I was really sad to hear this last night. I was never a fan of The Specials although I do maintain a certain nostalgic affection for Too Much Too Young and Ghost Town. I liked Fun Boy Three. But I thought The Colourfield were brilliant, especially the first album which I played to death back in 1985.

I saw him briefly once, browsing records at Our Price in Covent Garden in the late '90s. But I didn't say hello.

I seem to spend too much time lately digging out music of people who have just died :(

I was a 6th former at Warwick School when Ghost Town came out, it was recored in Leamington where we use to hang out at the weekend, which made it extra poignant.

    RIP Terry.

It was a little fresh in the loft but popped up there to give this a spin on my very basic vinyl set up
