    RIP Jet Black

    Passed away today apparently.

Big Stranglers fan back in the day, very sad news.

My original copy of Rattus Norvegicus still gets a regular airing.

    Very sad news.

    RIP.

Great drummer! Hanging Around is one of my favourite punk/new wave tunes.

I went to meet him for a job about ten years ago while rehearsing for a tour, he had a reputation for being quite difficult with the press and after a terse meet up I asked him about how his cabinet making projects were going and he started telling me about his passion for furniture and was as good as gold - really interesting bloke and a highly entertaining afternoon. I'm glad i got the opportunity to hear him hit those drums with force and style.

Had a life outside drumming according to the article I read. I just knew he got lucky in a band.

That's a shame. Only saw them once, in 1977. Only a couple of years after Dave Greenfield died.

    RIP JB

The Stranglers were part of the musical backdrop to my younger years - thanks for the memories.

That's odd as I saw The Stranglers a further three times, the last time in 2018 and Dave Greenfield was definitely playing the keyboards!

Yes he was, Dave passed in 2020.
As JJ Burnell said regarding the passing of Jet Black, "the welcoming committee has just doubled".

I apologise for the clumsy ambiguity of my post there. What I meant of course was - it's only a couple of years since Dave Greenfield died.

    RIP Jet Black

Loved his playing saw them many times until Hugh left. I think Jet ran an off licence in the 1970’s. Battersea Park 1978 is still one of my favourite gigs. RIP

I remember seeing him in my local supermarket walking round in a pair of joggers & slippers, not very rock & roll

He used to live just up the road and played in the same skittles team as a friend.

Didn't he live in a converted stationmaster's house or signal box on the disused Cirencester to Tetbury line?

I've got to give that a listen again. Been too long. Some fantastic stuff.

    RIP JB
