I bought this watch for a friend of mine's birthday, it was such a bargain I didn't even think it would be real leather on the strap. He says it's not a big deal, but I know he doesn't wear real leather shoes etc. due to being vegan.
I thought it would be easy enough to find a cheap pleather replacement, but so far, I've not seen one.
As you can see from the photos, it's a bit of a weird way of attaching the strap - it slides into that thin gap, then uses two screws to secure it. It's 26mm at the lug, but quickly tapers. I've seen Milanese that appear to attach in the same way, but they're 24mm at best, which would look daft.
Has anyone got any idea where I can get a non-leather strap for this? I've asked a couple of people I know who make straps, but they only work with real leather, and not in anything as thin as this, anyway.

I'm pretty sure you can be vegan and still wear leather so it may not be an issue for your friend. (Not sure if you've assumed he doesn't wear leather).

The slim profile would look good on a cork strap, however the size and fitting are going to be problematic. You'd probably need to find someone prepared to make you something bespoke, which might be expensive.

Yes, he was very happy with the gift. He went to try it on, and noticed the branding on the underside of the strap. He looked awkward, like he didn't want to complain, that's when the penny dropped and I grabbed it back off him to see if I could do something about it.

Obviously just stating the lug & buckle widths together with length on a standard strap configuration is fairly easy and the strap in the OP is slightly more complicated but it might be worth an email.
