Famous People You Have Spotted In The Wild

As per thread title, who have you randomly seen?

    My list:

John Betjemen - on the Southend Pier train
John Cooper Clarke - used to see him around and about in Southend years ago, and more recently getting on a train in Colchester
    Bill Clinton - in Harrods
Fish era Marillion - in the upper circle at the Hammersmith Odeon. Dont remember who was on
John Peel and The Pig - in a pub, having a Sunday Roast
Queen Elizabeth II - being driven along the Euston Road
Tony Blair -pre-leadership, on one of Blackpool's piers (must have been Labour Conference)

Cillian Murphy sat in the business class lounge in Dublin Airport.
Phil Thompson in Aberdeen Airport the other week.
Matthew Kelly and his wife hiding behind a tree in Brentford.
Philip Scofield in the Pitch n Piano pub in Richmond.
Paul Weller sat 2 tables down having breakfast in the Wolseley London.
Michelle Keegan (what a absolute stunner in real life) & Mark Wright in Dubai Lounge after their honeymoon.
Nigella Lawson sat outside having a coffee in London.

Wish I knew what Matthew Kelly was up to that day haha...

I have heard many colleagues say the same about Walliams when meeting / bumping into him. Seems a little above himself.

Beckham is a very amenable bloke if you approach him politely and given that he is a gazillionaire and probably the best known sportsman in the world I am pleasantly surprised at how freely he gives his time.

Beckham: “Money over morals” and thoroughly disappointed in him.

    and Roger Taylor.

Queued next to him while waiting to board coming back from the Maldives, genuine and amiable guy with an absolute aura about him that somehow oozed ‘Rock Star’.

Many moons ago, an old mate was on crew at Wilmslow when Becks was at United.
They had a call one morning for a woman stuck in a lift.
Nobody recognised the address as a high rise and as they pulled up to the gates David was running down the drive.
Victoria was stuck in the lift between the 2nd and 3rd floor and having a severe panic attack.
Mike was the smallest on crew so went up, prised the doors open and lay down to reassure her.
She was proper flapping and hyperventilating and was jumping to get to the 12” gap.
Mike leaned in and on the third jump caught hold of her front and back of her joggers…

…and lifted her up and out by the G-string !

One to tell the grand children. (Mike, not Victoria)

And straight away, the rest of the station nicknamed him: ‘Schindler’.

Tom Cruise - sold him an ice cream at longleat.
Harry from Spooks - John Lewis High Wycombe
    Prof Green - selfridges.
Colin Jackson - plane to St Lucia; lovely chap.

Prof Green wasn’t quite a spot, neither of us saw each other and he basically body checked me by complete accident. He’s huge and a real gent afterwards, so apologetic and polite.

Oh and Theresa May on an escalator in Reading.

Edward Woodward in a Chinese restaurant in Tavestock.
Jensen Button in Monaco driving an open-top sports car.
Princess Ann - Overtook her convoy with her driving the range-rover - on my bike heading up to Glenshee.
Prince Andrew (the nonce) and Sarah Ferguson (she did cartwheels the length of the bar) at Greenwich Naval College.

    That’s about it, I’m afraid/glad to say.

Years ago we had a family holiday at the Ty Newydd hotel in Aberdaron and on our first day there we were having a drink on the balcony and my mother whispered in my ear "that's Gordon Banks on the next table, don't stare"...obviously I did being about 8 at the time but he didn't mind and other than my curiosity we didn't bother him. It wasn't long after his car crash and you could still see the stitch marks around his eye.

Seen Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey, Russell Brand and Amy Lame but that was at the Ed Fringe so not really in the wild.

Sold Kevin Magnussen (F1 driver) a car a couple of years ago, throughly nice guy.

Nick Faldo frequents my local Indian restaurant, bump into him every few weeks. Down to earth doesn’t mind a chat.

Sat across from Sting and his missus in Spearmint Rhinos in Vegas a few years back, also Kobe Bryant in there the same night, hadn’t realised but I was in the SR VIP section, haven’t a clue how, was 2 sheets to the wind and yes I did do my nuts, one of those nights I’ll always remember all the same :-)

Got upgraded on a short flight in the US, and was in row 1 with an empty seat next to me - just before doors closed a guy boards who sits next to me, and exchanges a very brief hello. He looked vaguely familiar but i thought nothing of it, until the flight attendant insisted on fussing over him, which he clearly didn't want. Turns out it was Mahershala Ali, who I'd been watching on House of Cards. He'd just won an Oscar for Moonlight a few days before too. Appreciated not being bothered, and he struck up a short conversation just before landing - seemed a nice bloke.

Famous People You Have Spotted In The Wild

The most embarrassing one for me was at Alicante airport waiting at the baggage reclaim. I tend to zone out and go into a world of my own but with my eyes open.

When I zoned back in I was staring at Terry Venables who was looking straight back at me.

On another occasion whilst waiting st Gatwick to board a plane, there was a lad in a hoodie giving someone (I assumed it was his girlfriend) a load of grief on the phone. I didn’t know him from Adam but I was later told that it was Stephen Mulhern.

I've remembered a couple of others:

In the mid 80s I literally bumped (backed) into Christopher Lee (aka Dracula) at Munich Airport. He was very apologetic in that wonderful English way but scared the shit out of me regardless.

Years later I used to see all sorts when I was doing the Monday out - Thursday night back commute from Glasgow Airport to Heathrow. Back when he was Chancellor I had to give way for Gordon Brown coming up the stairs from the gents in the British Midland business lounge. At the time it was quite the place for spotting famous bods ... assorted other MPs like John Reid and a young Douglas Alexander ... TV and media types like Robbie Coltraine (who looked dangerously obese even then back in the mid-90s), Krusty Allsop off Location Location Location which was quite big at the time, John Curtice the pollster ...

Thank God I don't have to do it now I couldn't think of anything worse than sharing a space with the smug gits in the SNP contingent.

Lol. There must be something about airports - a few years back I did the same (literal bump) to Mike Tyson at Heathrow. He was tiny but the two man-mountains alongside him were somewhat intimidating.

All because I, being a prize muppet, had spotted the two paparazzi chaps that used to feature on one of those Heathrow documentary TV series, so was looking back at them without thinking there might be a good reason for their presence…

I side stepped Billy Connelly on Piccadilly a couple of months ago. He was in a fantastically loud suit, but unfortunately had to be helped to walk. He was still smiling and saying hello to everyone that greeted him.
Gillian Andersen, many years ago (20+) - I had no idea it was her, but I thought she was hot (only had warm beer in her fridge though)
Quite a few Rugby Players over the years (played with quite a few)
Dale Winton tried to chat me up once whilst having lunch in Chelsea, again many many years ago. I have never lived that down with the lads that were there. (I wonder why he gravitated to 20 something rugby players) he was a surprisingly large chap.
I called Bob Geldof a **** once, he told me to **** off - ruined the party atmosphere somewhat)
Vivian Westwood called me a **** once, whilst I walking down Bond Street and she was cycling on the pavement.
Sat on a flight next to Denis Waterman and Robert Powell on a flight to Glasgow once. Both were really nice lads
Saw Roger Moore walking down Sloane Street, I have never been more star struck!

There are few more but they dits for sharing over a pint.

The only man to ever compliment me on one of my shirts was Chris Evans. While I was standing at a urinal having a wee.

I've bumped into Derek Bell enough times to think he may be stalking me.
