Making wine gums, midget gems, sports mixtures soft has ruined them!

Striper Bars, I remember getting these on the way to junior school in the early 80’s, bloody amazing.

Loved Start, full of honey and sugar and before the days I became lacrosse intolerant.

Pacers, mint or fruity Toffos, and Fry's Fruit Cream bar were up there for me.

Plus in the old days Lion's and Star Bar's were fantastic, but these days they are feeble.

In the 70’s I lived on a cereal called Puffa Puffa Rice, a nut covered fudge called ‘Nutty’ and Penny Bubblies. Sadly long since discontinued but I still have many happy memories and lots of dental work in the interim to remind me of them !!

My Nan back in the 50s owned an old fashioned sweet shop, I can remember 4 chews a penny and all the boiled sweets in jars. It was great as it was all free she spoiled all her grandkids.

    Original hard Sports Mixture’s
    Aztec bar

Amazing how many good sweets Rowntree's used to make back in the day...

    Cherry lips.

    And Highland toffee bars.

Also fruit gums that were rock hard. Not the soft ones you get these days.

Don't think my teeth would stick up to them these days.

Victory V's to the original recipe. The modern version, when you can find them, are a poor imitation and nowhere near as hot!

    Also, liquorice and violet pills.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

    Dark chocolate Club Biscuit bars.
They still do orange / mint / various other
But no sign of the Dark choc.
I still look sometimes, just in case.

Maybe I just imagined them ?

Cresta - not sure I’d still like it but would be good to try again.

Used Spiras as a straw for drinking coffee, the trick was to anticipate the melting collapse point and wolf it down before dropping in the cup.

I'm wondering if our several dental surgeon members have opinions on the foregoing?
I regret buying and eating all the sweets / choc bars etc consumed in my youth.
Now have a top jaw permanent full prosthetic plate attached to very expensive dental implants.
The sugar in confectionery ruins our teeth. And the artificial flavourings, colourings and additives in confectionery compromise and destroy our gut microbiota thus weakening our immune systems.
I have not bought any sweets / chocolate bars / ice cream for many months - and I don't miss them.

I nibble chocolate things most days and I have a good set of teeth. Either you are very unlucky or you need to buy a toothbrush.

Another vote for the Texan Bar.

Plenty of other treats that I can recall, but the ones I miss are:

    Texan Bar, as above.
Proper Midget Gems. You can still find something that resembles these today, but not quite the same.
Top Deck Shandy. Plenty to choose from, but the Lime one was always my favourite.
Black Jacks in the wax wrapper
Bazooka Joe also in the wax wrapper, with the cartoon insert.
    Dentyne
    Toffo

Had not realised Tutti Frutti had been discontinued. Shame.
