Thread: Goodbye Lola

    Goodbye Lola

Yesterday we lost our beautiful Lola. A wonderful German Shepherd who came into our lives 12 years ago and totally changed us forever.
She followed me everywhere and I’ve now realised we changed our lives to suit her because we so enjoyed spending time with her. She made us laugh everyday and we will be lost without her for a long time. She was known as our Princess Lola and certainly lived up to that accolade.
    Thanks for reading

    Andy

    So sorry Andy

It’s heartbreaking when you lose a beloved friend…. As the owner of three hounds, my heart goes out to you

She looked like a big fun friend…. I’m sure she had a wonderful life and she’d thank you very much for looking after…

God bless Lola. No matter how long they’re with us, we’d give almost anything for a little more precious good time with them. Probably not the right time to say this, but when you’re feeling less raw do think about allowing another dog in to your lives. Maybe Lola would be happy to know another dog will get an opportunity to have the kind of life she enjoyed with you.

A princess indeed! Cherish the time you had together and the joy you brought one another. As Alfred and Annie once said: "Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." Rest in peace, Lola.

Sorry to read this Andy. We know it will happen, but it's heartbreaking nonetheless. You'll cherish the memories when the rawness of the immediate grief wanes. And you gave her a fabulous home.

It’s an awful experience losing a pet. They absolutely rip a hole in your heart when they die. We’re all different but for me, I go to the animal shelter and adopt another to try and pass on the love. I try and turn it to the benefit of another pet that has been through a lot.

What a lovely girl. Its such a huge loss. We lost our dog suddenly at the end of April and we still struggle. No children so she really was our family.

Heartbreaking mate, she looks a lovely girl. Our lab is 12 now and showing signs of her age, devastating as they get older but wouldn't be without them. Thoughts with the family

I well up every time I read one of these threads…😥

My sincere condolences Andy, I wish I had some wise words, I do like the caption/cartoon that often gets posted but I can’t find it. Hopefully someone will post it up .

Don’t waste a year mourning like I did, go and find another little fur ball to give a good home too, wish i hadn’t waited so long.

RIP Lola. They become a major part of the family and are always missed deeply when they go. We went through the pain many years ago now with Daniel, (nicknamed Griswold - hence my avatar), so I know how you're feeling. Remember all the good time you had with her - I still, after all these years, relate stories of Daniel and his prowess in jumping over gates and fences at a height that would put Dick Fosbury to shame
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

    A dog's Last Will & Testament
Before humans die, they write their last Will & Testament,
give their home and all they have, to those they leave behind.
If, with my paws, i could do the same, this is what I'd ask.

To a poor and lonely stray I'd give:
    My happy home
My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys
The lap, which I loved so much The hand that stroked my fur & The sweet voice which spoke my name
I'd Will to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place i had in my human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when i die, please do not say. "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.
Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope and give my place to him.
This is the only thing I can give... the love I left behind.
