Volvo XC40 T4 (2l petrol). Mostly urban. 28mpg!
I thought it might be interesting to compare members 'real world' fuel economy based on average mpg as recorded by your vehicle data display. Make, model, year, mileage and type of fuel, with a picture - static of course - of the display.
Ours is a 2017 Renault Captur Eco 2 1500cc, 42000mile, diesel. Cars predominantly but anything else is fine if it's got a data display.
The display above has not been reset for at least a year btw.

Volvo XC40 T4 (2l petrol). Mostly urban. 28mpg!
Our 2019 Yaris Icon 1.5 tech is returning 56.9 per gallon. Mixed routes, fair bit of motorways. 😃 Alway use E5.
Ive just returned the Disco sport but on the last run down to Tenby the data said 53.7, I'm now using a clapped out 2007 Ford Focus until the new cars come and thats returning 34.5…. (2.0ltr Petrol)
Porsche 718 Cayman 36.34 mpg over 30,192 miles
Land Rover Defender 90 24.89 mpg over 43,973 miles (includes some towing)

My '09 1.1 Fiat Panda returns nearly 60mpg when exclusively used for urban driving and is a pleasure to fuel!
My '16 2.0 ND Mazda MX-5 will give me high 40s on the motorway, or low 30s when B-road scratching.
Jaguar X350 Super V8, this week 121 miles at 20.83mpg, Can get over 30 on a run going steady, not often
BMW iX 2.9miles per Kw without regenerative braking. I plan to try get this higher but not sure how yet.

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Clio 1.4 16V petrol ( yes i know, maybe i will get a BMW when i win the lottery )
Real MPG 40
Megane RS280 very rarely saw figures start with a 3 mainly in the 20’s.
Someone above mentioned Mazda MX5 30mpg scratching round, I was lucky to see double figures on a track day.
ST3 Fiesta delivered from Portsmouth averaging 43mpg, 200 miles latter that’s mid 30’s.
Mini clubman JCW, averaging 37mpg around town, wife using it daily for short journeys.
Can push up to 58mpg on the motorway.
Harley Fat Boy averaging 46mpg .

AMG GT average 31, I hardly ever drive in towns
41.51 mpg since I got the car 3 years ago /23k miles. BMW F11 2.0 diesel.
'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
Mercedes E-Class 350 Diesel - 41.3mpg over 62k miles. Mostly country roads.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
Friedrich Nietzsche
118i MSport, approaching 9000 miles, so not really run in, mainly due to COVID, but about 34.0mpg +- 0.2mpg.
Picked up a BMW X3 30D in August, a couple of runs from Worcs to Kent and a few round trips to Derby, other than than school / shop runs etc- currently at 40.9 which seems OK to me given size of engine and type of driving. On a run it gets about 48.0
Merc e220d getting around 48mpg
Mini Cooper 3 door diesel, averages around mid sixties local use to seventy plus on a run, eighty possible but rare.
Suzuki Ignis 1.2 petrol hybrid, averages around sixty local use to mid sixties on a run, seventy possible but rare.
Both probably work out pretty similar in cost with petrol being cheaper than diesel but haven't done the maths. Road tax free on the mini but hundred and something on the Suzuki.

2011 Civic, 1.8l petrol. Around 43mpg, mixed motorway/town driving.
520d Touring - normally 60-65mpg (when mainly motorway), but recently down to 40-45mpg (mostly short city trips).
cls63 2012 90min run on m4/a34 made 29.4mpg iirc. Quite impressed for a V8.
1990 944 turbo does about 30 on run
Caterham 21 1.6 K series about 40.
Honda Z125 Monkey Bike. Average of 155mpg over last 3 tanks.

Skoda Superb estate 2ltr petrol. Commute to Bristol on M4 c. 58 mpg. Otherwise usually about 44 - 46. Amazing for a big old Petrol bus.
Caterham 7 c. 32 and mostly hard miles.

2021 4 series convertible. Diesel hybrid. Remapped to 260bhp. 60 mpg.

Shanks's pony - mainly about 100 calories per mile.
Pug RCZ 2.0 diesel. Currently circa 52mpg but can get to 60 if I try, or low 40s if I really try...
That’s over a mix of dual carriageway and A roads. Very little urban crawling fortunately.
Volvo V40 Cross country D2 (1.6 diesel) automatic. 55mpg mixed driving.
If I nurse my Volvo V70 D5 on a long motorway run I can get 55mpg.
Bloody good for nearly 5 metres of two tonne Swedish metal.
Otherwise it is usually around 40-45 mpg.
VW Up! GTI - Chipped to 140hp.
46mpg over 41,000 miles.
If I boot it, and drive like a hooligan, wheels spinning on roundabouts etc, I sometimes see 35mpg.
On my boring commute to work at 55mph, it does 55mpg.
999cc and 975kg and £13k brand new.
Heavy cars....... Sheesh!
Ford Mondeo titanium x 2.0 Tdi. 50mpg average over 120;000 miles. Recent years mainly town driving
My current BMW i3S is averaging through its entire life of 21,000 miles at 4miles/kWh. So 42kw battery x 4 = 168 miles of range on average from a charge. BMW quote 175 miles. Driven carefully it’s easy to top 200 miles from a charge if you avoid the motorway. Finally a car which can achieve/easily better manufacturers figures. As a point of reference, my old BMW 225xe PHEV quoted 134mpg and I never bettered 80mpg, sometimes down to 45mpg. I just don’t understand PHEV fuel economy, the quotes are ridiculous.
Mazda 6 diesel - mid 60s for my commute. Bought for comfort and economy.
Lotus Elise - I've never, not even once, attempted to work it out in the ~14y I've owned it. Not bought for economy!
2017 Ford Mustang 5.0 auto with 2.3l roush supercharger- 23mpg
1965 Ford Mustang 289 (4.7l) auto - around 15mpg
2018 Land Rover discovery 3.0 - 35mpg.
I don’t do many miles these days!

All well and good saying “real world” but your vehicle data display is rarely accurate. If you’re basing your consumption on the trip computer you’re kidding yourself.
Wife’s Suzuki Ignis shows average mpg at 61.9 over 30k miles. I always brim the tank and work it out from trip meter divided by litres to fill the tank converted to mpg. Comes out between 53 - 57mpg.
Hymer B544 motorhome with 2.8JTD Fiat base averages 26mpg but with woefully optimistic speedo probably means 23mpg in truth. No trip computer on this.
Audi S3 2020. Trip says 33mpg. Real consumption 29mpg.
