Thread: Have Strapcode become too expensive?

    Have Strapcode become too expensive?

I was looking at this super oyster bracelet for a Seiko SRPD51:

    https://www.strapcode.com/products/s...623d3c5b&_ss=r

The price is $78.21. I just looked at my Amazon order history and I paid £35 for the super oyster for my SKX007 back in 2014. I appreciate that everything on their website is priced in US dollars and the weak pound is having a detrimental effect.

I'm assuming that I will have to pa 20% import VAT. Strapcode make fine bracelets but they are starting to look very expensive to me.

    Have Strapcode become too expensive?

Average price for a pint of milk in Sept 2014 was 46p
This September it was 62p, a 35% increase.

Sh*t is just more expensive nowadays.

They've been around that price for a while now and it has started to put me off. However I took the plunge a few weeks ago on an oyster for my SPB077J and found it was the quality rather than the price that I didn't like. Links were tinny, overall feel was cheap and the clasp was locked closed.

I bought a strap code jubilee for my Turtle back in 2015, £50 from Amazon. Looks like I'd have to go US this time, $78 + shipping + 20% + FX hit.

You could always reach out to the Strapcode UK Amazon seller (I used them in 2015) and see if they could source you one for less?

I’m paying 89 pence for a pint of skimmed milk at my local Tesco - not one of those Tesco Express shops, either. It’ll be at least a pound a pint by Christmas.

A change of brand but Zuludiver/WatchGecko have gone into the stratosphere with their prices. Always looked forward to their weekly email but not anymore

I did think it sounded cheap - but was taking from the ONS as National Average!

Milk arrives at the door for me, and I think the butler sorts the bill. No idea what I am paying, what!

I priced one up recently for my MM300 and with import costs and the exchange rate it didnt make any sense but fortunately my WTB eventually yielded exactly what I wanted and I have also bought from Ebay in the recent past for the same reasons. No issues with quality on the models that I have acquired, all very solid and well put together but in summary, at retail they are too expensive.

I bought a strapcode roll ball bracelet for a Seiko turtle and the quality was rather disappointing.

They are already selling it on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08G51BVMY/

    It's £88.03!

    What is speed posting?

Strap Code makes really nice stuff. I think the value depends on the watch you're putting it on, and how happy/satisfied you are with the combo.

According to this thread, UK Strapcode orders are despatched from within the UK and therefore no import VAT:

    https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...-and-Amazon-UK

The thread is 4 years old. Anyone confirm if this is case?

I'd ask Strapcode directly to be sure.

They said it is despatched from Hong Kong. VAT added at point of sale.
They already have a 10% Black Friday sale which ends on 28th December.

I'm going to wait until the government fiscal statement on 17th November as I hope the pound will recover further in reponse.
