Thread: Is there a “show us your hand-wind” watch thread?

Is there a “show us your hand-wind” watch thread?

    I fancy something hand-winding.
Prefer it to have at least a date complication.

Cannot find any decent reference threads to whet my appetite

I do like a hand wind. Here are mine. I’ve never noticed before but none of them have a date. I wonder if that’s a common theme with hand winds.

My two hand winders my Prs 29b and 425 SLC. I like the interaction of hand winding and knowing that you have enough power reserve when you don’t wear it.

    Only one here, recent arrival.

Have been looking at Smiths W10s and even a Vertex WWW. Prices though have left me behind for now.

Lee, your Smiths is lovely. Let me know if you feel like you need a change!

I probably have at least 10 of them. I do prefer them to automatics, all other considerations being equal.

I think all “hand wind” owners are also keen photographers as the quality of the images above are outstanding:)

    Spoke too soon..

Remembered that I also have these two 33mm Smiths from the late sixties in a drawer. I inherited them so they'll always be with me. They haven't run for maybe 40 years so haven't been brave enough to wind them.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a vintage Smiths expert I'd appreciate it.

<edit> the Timor and the Hamilton above are lovely

    Here you go...

Hirsch actually make the assolutamente strap for Panerai. Originally they sold an exact copy but following pressure from Panerai they ended up changing the design slightly.

It is, and so versatile. I've just put mine back on the black alligator strap it came with, and it looks dressy now.

Tony, not exactly the same. The the first and last stitch do not look like that on a Panerai original strap. I've never liked it so Hirsh is a dealbreaker for me.

Some lovely watches on show here and I may have to add a gold hand wind (probably vintage) at some point.

I only have one hand wind, this Apollo 30th anniversary Speedmaster.

    Cheers

So how about this? A Smiths 5 jewels, handwinding (except it don't cos it's lost its crown) day-date. Gold-plated and marked front and back Swiss Made. I bought it for pennies on Ebay yonks ago to get fixed up, but never did.

What I meant was that the Hirsch version is no longer the same as the Asso, Jocke.

    Hope you’re well, btw.

Oops, you are right. I had it incorrectly labelled in my spreadsheet and haven't worn one for a while. Here's a PRS-29A and its inspiration to make amends.
