Top class hotel in Tenerife or Gran Canaria

    Hi all
Looking at treating my mum to a winter sun holiday this December
She’s had a rough year with lung cancer
    Surgery then chemo.
Me my mum and 18y son will be going
We want a lovely relaxing 5star hotel near the beach and amenities as she doesn’t walk that well
I’ve looked at a few but any actual suggestions would be brilliant
    Cheers Andy

There’s a few nice 5 star hotels in Costa Adeje in Tenerife. We went to one in the new year and the area was lovely but ours was quite far up the hill, so wouldn’t be ideal for your mum. I recall some lovely looking ones further down which you should be able to find with a search.

Our favourite area in the Canaries is Meloneras in Gran Canaria. Quieter but lovely. There’s half a dozen 5 star hotels and they are all lovely (patek and Rolex shops :-) ). The beach there isn’t very big but it’s only 5 minutes walk from the huge beach at Maspalomas. High end shopping and restaurants. Casino. We’ve stayed at the Rui before which is right on the front and half board. Fantastic food. Also the Lopesan Baobob, which was great but set back slightly. We’re actually going back for the 3rd time soon and staying in another Rui literally next door to the other one, as it has more things to do for our daughter.

we stayed in a Radisson Blu a few years ago (pre Covid) in Gran Canaria. Was very nice. It was on of their apartment like rooms with a kitchen and separate living area.
it was this one. Definitely recommend it

I’ve just come back from a stay at the Jardines de Nivaria in Costa Adeje and have also stayed many times at the adjacent Grande Hotel Anthelia. You really can’t make a mistake with either of them.

We stayed at the Seaside Grand Residencia (maspalomas) a few years ago and it was great. We had half board and the food was incredible

We used to stay at the Bahia del Duque in Costa Adeje 10 years ago, and it’s a wonderful hotel near to the beach good food with great service, while not cheap great value for money.

We're headed to the Royal Hideaway Corales Suites next month.

Previously stayed in the RHC Beach which was fine, so assuming the Suites will be as good.

I use DAK prosthetics and/or a wheelchair and the hotel's absolutely fine for mobility.

O, and last time and this time we're taking wife's mother who's 86, albeit sprightly.

Make sure you eat in La Caleta - breathtaking as evening turns into night.

Agree Duque superb and has a very relaxed atmosphere

Also worth considering the Grand Tacande next door.

Lovely Rolex shop 500 yds from both

Was offered a diamond dialled DJ there a couple of weeks ago. Shame the pound has tanked.

Back in 2004 ish I was in there they had all models I very nearly bought a Green Sub 3k I think it was. I only declined because I did not like green, as they say big mistake.

If you are happy with being at the heart of Playa las Américas then Hotel Villa Cortes is great.
We have been there several times.

I was desperately trying to negotiate a deal for the turquoise dialled Bulgari Octa in Ideal Joyeros next door (the Rolex boutique is also part of the Ideal store, in fact). The numbers just don't work at the moment, though - with VAT on arrival back home it would have worked out the same as the UK price so no point.

La Caleta's where the hotel is (with 5 restaurants including the Michelin starred El Rincon de Juan Carlos) and great views from its Starfish Grill.

Or do you mean Mirlo La Caleta (blackbird) overlooking the sea?
