    Citizen Promaster NB6021-17E

They called this reissue a Seiko killer, but it feels more of a Submariner killer to me. Brilliant watch!

Looks brilliant! What size is it? Is there a steel version? Not a huge fan of titanium, like to feel a bit of a weight on my wrist..

I measured earlier - exact same size as the 41 Submariner. Only difference is the 20mm lugs.

I really like these and regret letting my original one go. It's a pity they only offer the bracelet on the blue dial; have you enquired if you can purchase the bracelet separately for yours?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Think you can buy it after. I ordered the blue one as well, just to see what bracelet is like, but will keep it on a strap. Nice tropic perhaps.

It does look a tidy little number but I think if I was looking at a Citizen it’d be an Ecodrive. Such a clever way to power a movement (or in this case, a quartz module) and affordable too.

    Enjoy the new arrival!

Not for much longer though. Think Sub is on its way out :)

Running 3 seconds fast over the 24hrs out of the box. Another advantage over the Sub :). Was 8 sec slow per day last time I checked.

Same order yes. Will be sending it back tough. Blue has never been a colour I like in a watch.

The quoted "accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds" and 42 hour power reserve didn't sound great to me – but your review so far is really selling me on it as a high-quality every day diver.

Is the titanium noticeably lighter than a similar steel watch head?

Honestly a great watch. Especially at that price level. Light and comfortable as expected.

What, to be replaced by a titanium Citizen diver?!

It really must be good! Decent accuracy figures too, I mean, no one buys an automatic for its accuracy but it’s always nice when a cheaper movement puts up those kinds of figures. I have a cheap s/h Invicta that I wear on holidays that sits resolutely at -2 secs/ day:

And this little Seiko 5 was running consistently +2 out the box. No idea why I sold it.

Fed up with boring overrated Rolex tbh. Too much bling and wrong impressions.

Didn’t expect Miyota to perform so well. Just checked with time.is and the watch is 2 seconds fast since 5pm on October 6th. Corrected itself on the wrist from 3 seconds yesterday. Incredible!

I’d noticed these a few weeks ago and the reviews were generally positive. I recall one mentioned that the crown stem felt somewhat insubstantial when adjusting the time. Have you noticed that?

Tried this on today, on the rubber.
Incredibly light and slim, and it is a handsome watch, but the bezel operation is very poor. Sloppy, unsatisfying clicks. Lots of play in it - felt very cheap.

Shame, as it looked great otherwise and the case and dial were well finished enough.

It is certainly not rivalling anything mentioned in the OPs first post - not at £700.
I had the staff put out a Seiko monster at £400-ish, samurai at £500-ish, and one of the re-issue 1969 things at £1100 for me to compare.
The Citizen didn’t make muster against any of them.

Ended up buying an LE king samurai for £200 less, and it is a markedly better finished watch.

Crown is ok, but wish it was slightly wider perhaps. Would look more balanced imo.

No issue on the bezel on mine. Light yes, but clicks fine with no play at all.

I've had one of these new Citizens for a few weeks, the bezel action is akin to the NY0040 and feels out of place given the higher price.

It's a sensory / tactile issue, the bezel is functional and lines up with the minute markings but every negative adjective you can think of applies to the experience of the bezel action - tinny, hollow, vague, imprecise, scratchy / scraping.

Given how many other owners say the same thing, I'm inclined to think the watches are consistent, it's just some owners are more forgiving and, yes any of the Seikos mentioned earlier, sound and feel miles better.

Also, perhaps we should mention the lack of thread for the screw down crown which feels like too few turns, if you bought a used watch that was like this, you'd assume it had had a hard life and the thread had been partly stripped.

I tried one of these on last week(the bracelet version) - quite disappointing. The lug-to-lug is rather significant, certainly greater than the original and is unwearable from my perspective. Generally underwhelmed (and they were offering a 25% discount).
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I have been looking at these but at RRP I would really have to like it and I am not sure I do.
    Possibly one to try used.

My Google-fu has lost its mojo, I can't find that. Only one that comes close is from Germany.

Arh thats a good price. I paid full UK retail. Should have waited a couple of months.

  39. #39
Is that a genuine UK seller, wouldn’t mind one of these but I don’t want to get stung for any charges.

Proper watch! And well done to Citizen in a way for reminding Seiko what purpose watches price should be.

  41. #41
Secret sales doing them for £559 then get 10% off if you sign up for sms alerts, takes it to £503.10 delivered in a couple of days, I’m so tempted…

    Thread resurrection time!

I bought the blue one and fancy getting the black version.

Has anyone found discounts on these yet? Going back a few posts £503 seemed the cheapest but can't find anything near that let alone cheaper.

    Any leads provided appreciated, thanks.
