    Rust protection on new cars

    I’ve got a Suzuki Jimny.
Been advised to get it rust proofed as they are prone to rust underneath
    Anyone done similar?

I think you should consider moving this to a less public part of the forum?

    If it ain't a MX-5, it ain't worth it.

This is absolutely the best product on the market. Even the owner of a Dinitrol station admitted that during a Tech Meeting of the Dutch Triumph Club.
Not easy to apply. Worth the effort.

You can buy the wax oil in 1 ltr aerosol cans so not too bad, however its easier with a proper gun but you need a compressor…I did Trident7s Defender last year and it comes out a nice finish.

Ive recently used Lanoguard on several cars but obviously wont know whether it does what it says on the tin until they’ve been through a harsh winter. Really easy to use and also managed to paint over it in one of my engine bays with good results. I guess any form of rustproofing is better than none at all.

buy dinitrol 4941 in 1 litre tubs or i think they sell 5 litres also.

get a bucket and fill with boiling water.

put the tin into the water to make it more runny and easier to work with.

pour into a tub and paint on with a good thick paint brush.

you need to wash / clean under the car first so that it is fairly clean.

I rust proof my classic eg > 30 year old motorcycles with Waxoyl, but have to ask, when was the last time you saw a rusty modern car? I would have thought a 2021/22 Suzuki known to be shipped to the UK will have been fully dipped and carry a corrosion warranty.

Everyone cites MX5’s ( we have one) but a lot of their issues was due to 50 pence drain pipes blocking up, resulting in water being held inside panels where it shouldnt have been.

    The Jimny is Tonka tough!

Have you visited the Jimney forums/ Facebook pages? Is corrosion an issue, if so how have they addressed it.

They come with a 12-year anti-perforation warranty, which seems rather good. Who said they're prone to rust underneath?

I've been using Bilt Hamber anti-corrosion products for many years now and highly rate them.

I used Waxoyl on my MG Midget when I built it 40 or so years ago (using a new bodyshell) sprayed it inside all sills and sections and it had absolutely no rust anywhere when I sold it a few years ago.

+1 from me too. The Dynax comes with a 360 degree flexi lance too (spray tube top for the can) so that you can spray in the internals of box sections etc (which is where the rot usually starts).
