    Seiko SKX009 fake or real?

I picked up a preowned skx009 a few weeks back from ebay, which didn’t come with any paperwork.

Being anal I wanted a full set. So I bought another one that came with box and paperwork, with the intention of selling the first one.

However I’m kind of suspicious about the 2nd one and wondering if it’s a knockoff.

Comparing both watches, they appear different. The bezels are different shade and the font on the faces seam different also. What do you guys think?

Watch on the left is the first one I bought without paper work. Watch on right came with warranty card and manual. The last case back pic is from the 1st watch. Apologies I can’t get better pics.

I'd check the lume. Fakes would be likely to have far poorer lume, although if it's simply an older watch, it would be fading anyway.

These were in production for a couple of decades, there are going to be changes in production techniques, thousands of different batches, loads of little inconsistencies from the beginning of the run until the end, don't get too hung up on perceived differences. I've had several 009s, there's nothing on either of those that jumps out at me as wrong.

A full set for an SKX? So a cardboard box and a card with a serial number that doesn't match? Madness.

Actually, the serial number doesn't match either watch.

I have to admit, I used to be a bit precious about having everything together but with something like the SKX you just wear it, beat it up, get it serviced (brand new movement) and carry on.

Then again, they might be worth thousands one day

The bezel insert is aftermarket but the rest looks good to me.

There should be a clear lens over the bezel pip which gives the appearance that the lume is recessed. Side by side shot shows the difference between the genuine and a/m inserts.

Albeit, it's probably a mistranscription by the original dealer...

Have you removed both bezels ? some fakes I have stripped have had totally different bezel systems/fixings underneath.

Yeah, it looks like a genuine mistake transposing two numbers. Funny though

These watches are cheap enough, why bother faking them!
