    Shipping from the US

I'm looking to buy a wallet from a small US manufacturer, who doesn't ship to the UK. Whether this is Brexit related or for some other reason is not clearly stated on his site, which is very amateurish, unlike his products.

However I've recently discovered that you can sign up to shipping companies which provide a US address to use with such suppliers and then post it to you, for a fee plus the international shipping. Obviously this is not the most efficient or cost effective method but it may be the only way I can obtain it.

Added to that, some of the easily found, high profile companies offering this service, have very poor online reviews.

Has anyone ever used such a service, that went well and can thereby provide a recommendation?

I should say that the wallet is just over a hundred dollars and is in the would be nice to have, rather than the must have category.

    Thanks in advance.

I've used proxy sellers to purchase from Japan and have never had an issue. Just be aware the fees they charge can vary significantly.

Thank you for the replies so far.

MyUs looks better than the one I had seen previously which is Shipitto.

I'll get some idea of costs involved before making a purchase.

    Strange, from their website: -

If the merchant invoice does not indicate a price, or if the merchant does not include an invoice, we will prompt you to enter the price you paid for the merchandise.
No easy way to get companies like amazon to include an invoice.

It is the VAT change the Government brought in - a couple of small US companies I bought from in the past, no longer ship to the UK.

Yes, that is the reason but I don't understand their reasoning. Although HMRC wants them to sign up to one of the UK VAT schemes and thus pre-pay VAT, there is no way whatsoever to force them to do this (as far as I know[1]). In other words, they could carry on exactly as they always did (as many companies worldwide still do). It doesn't seem to be a real issue for them unless they make it so.

    Footnote:-
1: Unless there's a treaty I am not aware of with the USA which would force them to do this but that seems unlikely.

Well it so happens, that a very kind member of the forum has most generously helped me out. He's visiting his son in the US for Thanksgiving and has offered to bring the wallet back with him after enjoying seeing his son, some sunshine and of course lashings of turkey!

    Thank you once again Nige!

If you've already finished Voyager, NF also has TNG (a fortnight right there) , although my favourite of them all is DS9.

Just started S5 so plenty to go! I watched TNG previously and am wondering if I should go for DS9 after Voyager.

Hope to see it make an appearance on the wallet thread soon…
