As said by others, I would look at the small claims court.
If you have his address and the PMs agreeing sale it has to be worth the time and £75 it will cost.

Thanks. Hopefully it doesn’t get to this stage but cheers

Sob story is rubbish. Not as if the seller used the eight hundred quid to buy food is it? He used every penny plus probably more to buy his kid an expensive mobile phone! And lets not forget he was selling a luxury bag.

The unions had such a strong hold on everything, and man did the staff have it easy, years of constant treats of strikes and wage demands meant that most PO branches had a target to lose money! which is just stupid.

The staff simply got paid too much, had too many holidays, full sick pay, full maternity pay, hell one of the counter girls that worked for me had 2 kids in the space of 3 years, due to the large amount of (full paid) maternity time off she had, she then accrued so much holiday entitlement that even when she was came be back to work she had months of holidays to take, she supplemented this with some (full paid) sick pay - which the counter staff would joke and call extra holiday pay. The result was in those 3 years she hardly worked and was paid her full salary the entire time.

And if the managers tried to clamp down on this kind of thing, the union rep would be in and have a stern word followed by your regional manager calling asking you what you are playing at upsetting the unions, it was one of the main reasons why I left, trying to improve performance with both hands tied behind your back.

Staff would always take their full allocation of sick pay, and most spent their time waiting for the branches to be closed down (which was a given as my target was to lose money) to then get a huge pay-out.

The whole thing was just crazy and eye opening, and would never happen in a private company.
Just to be clear, you prefer that pregnant women and mums with young babies go without maternity pay and holiday entitlement?

I kind of felt sorry for the seller at first but it’s not looking good now with the radio silence, I mean it’s the modern age with smart phones we are all on the internet at some point though out the day are we not? I run a small business and answer my email pretty much instantly throughout the week and even weekends so going on a forum is not a chore

Yes, well done you knew all along.

Though no point, if he'd said he'd sort it, saying 2 hours later he must pay up.

It’s been a week now since juice said he would pay back the £800 he owes me
Since then I’ve heard nothing from him despite texts what’s app (that’s he’s read ) and a few pm,s
I really thought he was a decent chap and believed him about paying me back. My mrs and son are fuming about it
    So am I.
I’ll give him a day or so to respond and hopefully do the right thing

The whole thing smells very funny to me…no activity for 8 years then a few posts in March followed by this s**t show. If I was juice id being in constant contact with Len and not disappeared for 6 days with no contact. Whilst £800 isn't a huge amount of money its a figure I'm sure most of us could muster up quite quickly.

Bit strange isn’t it? And we’re all assuming the bag actually exists…

Time for a villain thread. If he maintained radio silence for 8 years last time, this guy is over the hills and far away by now. I hope I’m wrong and the buyer gets his £800 back, but looking remote at present.

And if it does was it even genuine? I don't believe someone who has the readies to buy such a bag can't muster up £800. Even if the bag was bought on credit they must have the credit available to refund the buyer. Either way, definitely a wrong 'un.

I'm looking forward to Juice returning in a week or so and giving us a sob story. What do we think it'll be? I'm going for an illness, not his, something serious in the family.

Short of him living in Aberdeen and you in Newquay I'd be getting in my car for a Sunday drive if I was you. £800 is a lot of money and I'm sure as hell wouldn't be mulling over my options at this point.

  30. #230
Whatever happens, the seller is an obvious liar and neither that bag or the eight hundred quid is appearing. Who gives a toss if he's had tragedy or suchlike? His wife has probably battered him for using the wallpaper intended for the library remodel to wrap the empty box.

If the account was dormant for 8 years maybe it’s been hacked and the seller may not be Juice …

That would have been a long scam - he has been active for six months again, and completed at least one considerably higher-value transaction.

There is evidence to suggest the seller either has disposable income or a good line of credit...he bought a £2000 bag "on a whim" whilst shopping in Harrods, he ordered an Apple Watch on release, he's sold a high value watch recently. Re-reading his first few posts in this thread, it also seems like he was trying to assert that his insurance would have been invalidated by OP refusing the parcel (ie hinting the blame lies with the buyer), then it transpires he had no insurance. I suspect this isn't some elaborate scam...all of this genuinely happened and the seller is able but unwilling to pay the buyer back at this present time.

From those who work/have worked in RM or Parcelforce, how easy is it for an employee to stanley knife a parcel open and take the contents then put the parcel back into the system? I thought it would be quite difficult. Is it more likely to happen at a sorting office or when out for delivery? Looking at the pictures, I'm also at a loss how they'd work out a parcel like that is worth cutting into. For every item worth stealing, there must be 20 that aren't of any use at all. It's not as if the postage price would have hinted of a high value item as there was no insurance.

I think that he's just ballsed up massively by taking the risk of not using an insured service. It's unfair to pass the stress involved onto a completely innocent party and I hope that he's just preoccupied with getting the funds together ASAP. TBH it should have been done immediately even if that meant going overdrawn but there may be partner interference going on if accounts are shared. There's no excuse for the radio silence.

If there is no progress fairly soon a recorded delivery letter needs to be sent with an absolute deadline for refund after which a claim will be submitted via the court system. It's been a week since this:

Perhaps the bodged up wallpaper parcel got wet.
Then indicating the designer name underneath the wallpaper.

No one in there right mind would use the box the bag came in, for anything other than the bag.

I hope this saga has a happy ending.

But when the seller suspects the postman and buyer to be in it together.
(That accusation was quickly deleted by the buyer)

I wouldn’t be holding too much hope.

I hope this works out for the OP.

Why not just phone a family member or friend for £800 and pay the OP. Resolve the rest at your leisure.

Could have been worse it could be a 10k Rolex at least one good thing could come out of it if the buyer does ever get his money back the seller will never sell anything else on here again

Has the buyer actually confirmed he has the sellers address? If from a return label did he even look before rejecting and if so, would it even be real?
