I’m hoping someone can help date a knife that I’ve just picked up, we are on holiday in Norfolk at the moment and popped along to a local boot sale with the dogs. I’ve seen a couple of threads regarding similar knives and their restoration and I thought I might have a go with this one for a fiver.
Seems to be Italian, plenty of crud and rust but the blades seem to be in ok shape, it will give me something to do and may well be useful. It would have been great if it was a Royal Navy knife as my Grandad served and I remember one being in his tool box when I was a child, long gone now though unfortunately.
I’m guessing that there is no great age to it but it would be nice if anyone has an idea of dating it, I know there are a few here who know their onions when it comes to these.

could be early 1940`s onwards i think but they are common in that condition.
british army jack knife as far as i know.
I even have one around the house that is nearly the same.
Thanks all so far, I was wondering if there were any tell tale signs that might give an approximate age, from what I understand they were produced for many years, would be interesting to see if it could be narrowed down.
And there was me thinking it was some kind of fetish thread
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I'm afraid that I can't help in aging it, but it looks like a nice little project and it would be great to see pictures when you're finished.
Ah, the old attachment for getting Boy Scouts out of Girl Guides’ tents eh?
