Could be this one, I suppose.

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

More of a recent one for me but this 5513 I got from SC is pretty special and would need a strong reason to leave.

It would be a close run thing between the flightmaster or vintage Seamaster for me.

I can’t decide between my Reverso bought in 2017 and my 5513 bought in 2016.

Dunno about 'best' but of all the watches I've had, from both SC and elsewhere, this is the one I've owned the longest by far.

Absolutely fabulous watch that I would only part with for something really special

    This too...

Oddly the BP & Breitling probably don't get the most wear of those I bought from TZ-UK.

    That would go to this...

    or this...

The only watch I've bought from SC that I no longer own is a Sinn U1. Always wanted one, hated it when I got it.
Love the BP, is it the 43mm or 38mm. Contemplating the 38mm but not sure if will be too small

This, my 5513. Picked it up from the seller's (Adam?) place of work in Salford Quays so long ago I can't remember when. It previously belonged to a snooker player and I'd like to think it was a competition prize or bought with the winnings :-)

Think I paid about £3.5k or so for a full set, about £750 more than I sold my loose 14060 for to acquire it. It felt expensive at the time! It's been serviced twice in my ownership, so must have had it 10years or more. I swapped out the service bezel insert and prefer the patina of the previous insert despite the missing pip.

I have bought a new Rolex (when such things were relatively easy and affordable) with the intention of replacing it but it's outlasted a ceramic Sea-Dweller, LV, LN, 39mm Explorer and an Explorer II (40mm) which all moved on (for what seems like foolish prices given how much they are now worth!). If only we could have predicted the price of vintage watches would be overtaken by the grey market price for a new one!

The only modern one I haven't tried to replace it with yet is a contemporary no-date Sub, which would be the logical replacement to think about it!

Worn pretty much daily until the last 2 years or so.

    Ant

Well I think I have only bought four off the forum and this was the first, a battered old bruiser

Close call between these 2, a 1972 Constellation on original bracelet bought in 2019 and a 1962 18ct gold Seamaster bought in Feb 2020. Both were in good condition but benefitted from a thorough service and light refinishing. The Constellation was tricky to do, getting the bezel looking right was a challenge and I`ve subsequently put a small ding in the polished part......annoying! Both are water-resistant for everyday wear and both keep excellent time. Definitely not selling either!

This one came from a WTB, is enjoyed regularly and as I have not seen another in anything like this condition, it is very unlikely to leave…

I am mildy suprised only one watch in my collection is from SC - the Omega X-33. They rest have been bought elsewhere. So I guess by definition it is the Omega X-33 MK2

Not easy to say especially as my watch mojo is on the decline at present, although I'm not minded sell a number but no targets in mind to purchase either. Probably this one, in part because it would be harder to replace than most of my others.

43mm. It wears nice and compact for a 43mm but I can carry off 44 and even, in some cases, 46mm watches. Only one way to find out for you of course...

What’s the best watch you’ve bought through the forum and still have?

None. I’ve only bought 2 on here, both 10+ yrs ago. The MM “homage” quickly went in the trash. The Omega SMP I bought as a gift for a friend, which he still has. My wife wasn’t happy, still brings that one up!

P.S. ignore the above. I completely forgot about my Rolex LVc, bought off here at a bargain price, and still own (and wear often). Man, how could I forget that …

Agreed, but after a few years it becomes a doubled edged sword. You do see older watches still stickered listed for sale, but always carry a heavy premium. The buyer who removes those stickers takes a bath there and then. I only ever owned one NOS watch and I sold it fairly quickly at the same price I paid for the reasons above.

I suppose if someone has deep pockets and wants a totally mint watch then it is a good buy for them.

Was going to sell it and buy a Omega World Timer but the numerous price rises have placed that out of my budget unfortunately

  29. #79
I bought it as an investment for my son from all his birthday monies etc. All things considered, it's done well in terms of investment.

I have an LVC myself and love wearing it. My son calls it "green and green" as opposed to the "green and black" that he calls my LV.

    @waser:

Countless (20+) others, but those two came to mind immediately.

I've been a member for over 10 years and have bought quite a few watches from the SC, before Brexit. Funnily, the two of those watches that I still have are both from Swedish members.

    I bought this from 744ER:

Bought a full set 16710 from this forum in 2008 and I still have it.

Belliegro of TZ.uk co-assisted me with a blog of the 16710 that has received already 100K views. So this watch is really a TZ.uk watch for me.

    I don’t blame you!

Sub ND, VC and Panerai the pick of the bunch for me, but would happily own any.

It's 50.4mm lug to lug. For me it was too much - I loved the watch and one of the very best I've ever had, but the lug overhang meant I always had a niggle wearing it so I sold it. No idea if the purchaser still has it or if indeed you bought it from him!

A few watches have come and gone but I still have a black dial PRS-25. Its changed a few times as I've moved to the newer models (does that still count). I think ill always have an Everest variant in the collection.

I've only brought three watches off the forum but my favourite has to be this vintage quartz GP from Redwolf. I don't think I'll ever get bored of the dial.
