    Rolex Event September

Anyone else been invited? In the past this has been to sample the new watches but wondered if it was going to be around some new announcements seeing as Rolex have done some September releases in the recent past.

New releases online on the 1st and real-life viewings (of non-working models I presume) later in month perhaps?

Seems a tad odd to invite some would-be punters to a ‘ta-dah, we put the prices up’ event. Equally showing us new models that aren’t available is like losing on Bullseye and being shown the speedboat.

At all the WOS events I've attended there's been numerous (including some hard to get) models for sale. They have a captive audience, drink flowing...

Ive not had an invite myself, but I gather they are inviting people to tell them they are being blacklisted for blatant profiteering and reselling way over list?

Who ever actually wanted the speedboat? It always made me laugh when they handed a speedboat to the winner living in a flat in Tipton.

WTF is he going to do with it if he doesn't have access to SC?

Anyway, I'm sure the OP will have their eye on some 'bargains' to flog back to the 'community' at an insulting mark-up.

I am the OP on the original thread and I don’t think I’ve ever sold a watch back here or made a profit.

I imagine they're incentivising their salesdrones with these "Gloat at the mug-punters" sessions - gives them a chance to practice their humiliation techniques...

I’ve been invited to some in the past and attended once, usually just a case of trying on the new watches. The one I went to was when all the new coloured OP’s were released. No invite this year, must have dropped off their mailing list as I haven’t brought anything in over a year

It’s to announce the end of the list system, breaking it gently to those affected.

RRP and ADs to be abolished, all new watches to be sold direct from Rolex to consumers by worldwide online auction - you heard it here first

Although teased by HM above, it sounds it has all but been confirmed that a price increase will happen for Rolex on 1st September. 5%+.

Not that it would be a massive surprise.

If resale wasn't an issue, would you pay 3.5k for a Pelagos or 8k for a sub?

Anyway know the previous price of the Rootbeer? I have c£11.5k in my head - the new price is £12,750, which would imply +10%. I've been meaning to add my name to the waiting list for ages, Sod's law !

Prices should drop back to circa yesterday’s prices if Truss gets in and follows through on the 5% VAT reduction.

Makes total sense given the weakening GBP. Not really a price increase, more bringing the GBP price in line a little probably. Don't think this was a worldwide increase.

Don’t hold your breath for any of that to happen….specifically, regarding any possible change downward in the standard rate of VAT you will find that retailers are not legally obligated to pass on any reduction. The government/chancellor can advise/request it is, but not make it mandatory to do so.

I am really not following any of the nonsense they are coming up with, but I’d assumed the 5% reference was in respect of the 5% charged on energy.

It has been claimed that Truss intends to reduce VAT to 15% as part of trying to help the cost of living crisis. Whether sellers will pass the savings on, or pocket the difference themselves, is another story.

    Hmm.. thank you.

I’m holding out for a free puppy before I consider giving them my vote.

I was invited to one of those dinners in 2013 but had to miss it because I had a medical school exam the next day. Still kick myself
