Cheers for heads up Middo, managed to pick one up in Sevenoaks store and there was still one left in store, buried underneath 20 patio heaters.
Very well made and perfect for the two of us rather then firing up the biggie.

Looks champion that. Never thought of a bbq for slow cooking joints etc how long will you give it in total?

I’m not expert but I think about 6 hours - I’m monitoring the internal temp

Must not go to a German discounter.

Looking forward to seeing how the pork comes out. What was the weight originally when it went in?

Gladly not in this heat, Paul!

Feel for Nic at Meat Smoke Fire (great place for recipes and to watch his live cooks). He had a cooking course yesterday & Friday, far too hot for all that stuff.

So what’s your first cook going to be?

I’ll check that out Matt thanks.
First on the list is a couple of really juicy marinated steaks with some low and slow ribs, then on to some slow roasted joints. Any tips ?

Have a look at Amazing Ribs website. Was my bible when I started cooking proper bbq 15yrs ago. He is great, goes into all the science etc so helps the learning. Disagree with the pre salt, well not in science, just reality of doing it vs ease.

Luckily have the rubs before it changed recipe wise, so shout if you want them. Also feel free to give me a yell if you want to chat anything though - open to anyone here tbh.

Friend had one of these ceramics last year, this year he got a minimax, he was then over a fortnight ago eyeing up the XL, worse than watches to collect them lol.

Look forward to seeing what you cook.

That's probably a great resource, but all the adverts gave me a headache after about 15 seconds...

Great set up. I bought a large BGE ages ago and wish I’d not listened to the Mrs and gone for the XL!

I have not been there in a while, liking now he has certainly commercialised it somewhat! Was much less shouty back in the day.

Cheers. Think the L is the better of the 2 in all honesty as the height of the grill from the coals is higher than in the XL, less fuel etc.

I went XL as my WSM meant not going that size gave me less cooking area & it felt a backwards step. Obviously then needed a smaller one for just quick / smaller meals.
