Not an EV fan but all the car fires I have seen recently have been ICE, including this one in our village yesterday!

I’d be wary of trusting any story like this that quotes only anonymous ‘sources’ and seems to be paragraph after paragraph of speculation and rumour.

I’d have thought that if six out of 10 Taycan’s have a serious battery fault that could lead to fire, they’d be bursting into flames with monotonous regularity and we’d be hearing much more about it. As it is, a Google search finds many references to a single fire in Florida.

There’s no doubt that cars catch fire sometimes, whatever is powering them,

The studies that come up on Google seem to say that ICE fires per 100k vehicles are far higher than EVs, but not as high as hybrids.

I think it’s fair to summarise that EV fires are far less common but more problematic to extinguish, hence the specialist fire training being rolled out.

The problem and i think fear is that once alight they burn for days. The recovery people have containers full of water to drop the cars in so they don't reignite after being put out.
