Good read - thanks for sharing the link.
I shared this image on another thread.
Good call in the article that they're still above retail.
Thanks for posting this.
I found this part particularly interesting, not something I considered about the popularity of steel sports watches:
“There is little need for expertise or research — unlike vintage watches, which require patience and research to find the right examples,” says Silas Walton
You could double the drop for reality of an actual sale on anything that became popular, these figures are heavily propped up, long overdue. Stick with the basics, TT & Precious were always sub RRP pieces and always should be. As the years go by and the fog lifts we will look back at the whole furlough dough, crypto boost, bored and hungry pocket investors and realise what a silly 36 months. You have to look at 30 years of steady data and then see the last 2.5 years and consider all the external influences to see it clearly.

In the same issue there is an interesting piece about investors turning to vintage wine as a hedge against inflation. Of course, it may be that attention now turns to vintage watches in the same way which, of course, have a finite supply. Unlike current production watches which also have a finite BUT ongoing supply. This winter is going to be very unpredictable.
Interesting read. I saw a similar article in the Wall Street journal today.
