Looks fake to me.

I appreciate the old 'how much is this worth' posts are usually frowned up on, especially when its a near new watch but this is a bit different!
Below is a watch we purchased a few years ago, spur of the moment from a trader we have used numerous times while abroad. It came with an old Rolex box (unlikely original) and we didn't pay much for it, we were well aware there was probably aftermarket parts on it and its not new condition but either way it looked nice on my partners wrist, the dial really is stunning in the sun and looks more like a modern watch.
However it wasn't worn much and since getting her a grape dial OP a while back its not left the safe and realistically it wont.
I dont know anything about the watch in all honestly, guessing its probably 1970's? I dont fancy taking the strap off to find the model number but its 26mm I believe (if that helps find the model no).
We had to buy another link for it which has some 'fade/wear' on the gold, just on the one link near the clasp.
I know there isn't any real value in it but we will sell it when we come back to the UK after summer. Can anyone give me any ideas on the price and/or model number?
It would more than likely need an inspection but it seems to keep good time for its age, eitherway its going to be cheap and a tidy watch for anyones wife, the bracelet is in surprisingly okay shape too.
Any help appreciated!

It's a fake POS.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Wow!
Is there a way I can verify this, I still have the payment receipt from the shop so I will be going back to them, any pointers on what I can say to them to prove it?
Considering I have bought and sold from this trader before and they have a large following online (over 30k followers) I am genuinely surprised and now a bit p*ssed off.

If there is any experts in here willing to help please drop me a message, I would like to go back to them confidently.
Obviously i have the watch so I can add pics or a video for additional help.
You were aware about aftermarket parts but are shocked it is a fake?
I worry about your other purchases from this trader.
Its an old watch, I presumed things such as the dial and crystal were probably not original, that doesn't mean the watch is fake though.
Like i said it was a 'cheap' spur of the moment purchase but we had no idea that it could be fake?
The other purchases are fine, newer models and full set. The last two I re-sold to another trader without an issue and I have absolutely no doubts about the other one I have from them. I am hoping this being an older model it has slipped through the cracks but the trader is well known in my area, they have two shops and deal in anything from watches such as this (womens OP's etc) right up to Patek and higher end stuff.
Willing to examine and put what I think in writing, on condition of seeing original receipt to see how it was described originally.
Thanks Haywood, your help is much appreciated again! Top bloke.
I should be back in the UK September so if you dont mind I will try and pop down to see you, I am always keeping an eye on your stock (saved in my favourites tab) and on the look out for a new watch so perhaps we can do another deal when there..
I dont think we have a full receipt, I remember looking on my online banking for something else earlier in the year and seeing the payment for this but if I remember correctly it just said 'womens Rolex watch' and of course the name of the shop/trader.
We seen the watch on their social media page and it was on offer, as it was cheap (not cheap as in replica money!) we just said we would have it without a worry, we know it was likely not a great example but we didn't buy it as an investment or to make money on, my wife just liked the look of it so the deal was done. Never thought that it was fake.
Luckily we didn't spend a lot and we knew resale would be low anyway but its frustrating that we have just wasted that chunk of money.
I genuinely dont think the dealer will have known, there good guys and I am sure they will sort it out once I have 100% confirm. They dont specialise in anything like this (not an excuse for selling it) so I dont know if its just been a quick flip for them and they didn't realise?
Stories like this really make you wonder how many fakes are out there in peoples collections with them being none the wiser. It's something you really have to be aware of when buying privately. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's important not only to trust the sellers integrity, but also their source/competence, because someone can sell you a fake watch with the best of intentions but that means nothing if they don't even know themselves.
No offense to the OP, but this scenario is case in point, and there's a hell of a lot of very accurate fakes out there (perhaps not this one...).
I’m not sure how a watch dealer could hold that watch in their hand and not immediately know it’s not right tbh! Sorry OP but I’d get anything I had bought from them thoroughly checked out.

I don’t think it should be possible to wear the gold plate off those centre links on a genuine Rolex.
was the amount you paid for it a warning as to the provenance or did you pay an expected retail price for it?
The price was fair, and realistically we thought we would be able to sell it privately now for about what we paid. I wont go in to all the details yet until I know whats happening but lets say its about what you would pay for an entry level Tag Heuer F1.
The link with the wear is the one we purchased afterwards, that came from a Chrono dealer as getting an old style link like that was hard to find locally.
I will send the watch to Haywood when I have time and get a report, I actually have family with me at the moment who go back to the UK next week so I might ask if they can take the watch with them and send to Haywood but I will confirm. I will also be making a donation to the fundraiser on behalf of this gesture from Haywood.
I was thinking about playing the dealers bluff, seeing if they want to buy it back from me. I guess if they know its shady they wont want to.
Honestly I dont think they will have known, it was posted on their social media pages at the time as being on offer, they have about 30-35k followers, two shops and countless reviews online, a very good reputation in my area so I will see how things go. I am not concerned about the money, I dont need it but its the fact the watch is possibly fake.
I'm no expert and it's a vintage piece, but 1st thing I thought was that has to be a fake.
Hmm, lots of folks are quick to call 'fake' on this.
I did a 30-minute Google search on this watch and whilst I didn't find anything that looked exactly like it (salmon dial), I found a few on Chrono24 that had interesting similarities.
Personally, the best option is for Haywood_Milton to give it the once over.
In the meantime...
... I think you'll find --> This Link <-- interesting, especially the Oyster Perpetual Lady references.
Make sure you let us know the outcome once this watch has been verified.
I for one would love to know =)
Thanks!
I am not entirely convinced either but I am absolutely no expert. Due to the age and style/value of the watch we suspected parts will have been changed over the years and perhaps it was a bit of a 'frankenwatch', I am confident it didn't come with this dial as it looks like a new colour is that makes sense.
My wife also had the link installed by a jeweller, I am not saying they would verify it but I would hope if it was terrible they might have said?
Anyway who knows, I will update you all once I know. Lets see if it real, fake or perhaps a mixture of parts
It doesn't look like a fake to me... but it looks so worn... it is hardly worth anything. Women tend to do that to watches. They use them like they should be used.
I like the way the bracelet stretch is being measured. Bracelet stretch is the least of the worry.
The cheapest new Tag F1 is about what, £800? By comparison, the cheapest Lady DJ on Chrono24 is at least £2k (there are only two), with the majority starting over £3k. Did you not smell a rat?
If it seems too good to be true...
My quick look for Tag was about £1050-ish for an entry level one.
The watch was purchased about 5 years ago so comparing prices in 2022 and using Chrono as a ref is irrelevant.
Plus there is a few for sub 2k and that is 'Chrono' pricing which is normally optimistic as sellers have to factor in commission.

At the time it was an okay price, not cheap enough to doubt it but cheap enough for us to take a punt when we seen it. Its an old watch, clearly well worn and considering its from a legit shop as mentioned we had no reason to doubt it.
We know the value isn't high which is why I am not particularly bother, if we get the all clear and its just a 'frankenwatch' then it will likely just get put on eBay or similar at an auction, if it sells for £400 or £1000 I am not bothered, its just a shame its now sat in a drawer and will realistically never get worn again.
I think the thread could be locked now, we will await a proper verification and I will update everyone.
Clearly we didn't think/know there was an issue with the watch, reviews are mixed and there isn't really much more input which could help up.
Sorry to be blunt but I have a feeling this is going to de-rail like many topics on here.
I think that is just the pic to be honest, I will upload some better ones this week.
The link with the damage is the one we purchased from Chrono, to be honest its was fairly worn when it came but they were super hard to get hold of at the time so we had little choice. I think the bracelet on this is held together with links which fold and are then pressed shut so the curved part which has probably been opened and closed/folded countless times over the years was showing wear.
Hopefully some better pics will help.
Any update on this yet?

All I can say after reading through this thread is thank goodness the big players are restricting parts to accredited repairers. By forcing owners to go to legitimate repairers, we will get less of this thing.
