Used to love this one when I was clubbing. Of course, the thought of clubbing now gives me a sense of horror and dread!

Some great songs posted already, all favourites. I was into quite a few different types of music in the 90's. Ranging from Indie, Alternative, Rock, etc through to Techno / Dance stuff.

I was going to post Janes Addiction - Mountain Song
https://youtu.be/1kAIMlISHhU but looking it up, it was released late 80's?? Maybe I just got to the party late?

So instead, I will offer up Ride - Ox4. Went with this as I listened to Bandwagonesque and Going Blank Again albums a lot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57I0Lt0yalA If you haven't heard it before, it has a 2 min intro!

    Hasn't been much movement here.

Slightly different post today. Favourite songs with awesome guitar from the 90's.

    Stone Roses - Driving South
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKRQZrJJJCM

    ACDC Thunderstruck
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2AC41dglnM

    Extreme - He-man Woman Hater
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGWYKjwgIMs (live version, just to show how amazing Nuno is).

    Got anymore?

I've always loved the rant at the end, still relevant and one of the best 90s tunes.

It really does, some great tunes there, but I have to be a pedant and point out that The House of Love and Young MC tracks here were both late '80's releases. I remember watching The House of Love at Oldham QE hall in January 1990, with a crowd of about 50. A very underrated band back then and still are, but one that I still listen to today.

  26. #26
Eels - Novocaine for the Soul - this was the one of the standout tracks of 1996 for me, and 1996 was a really good year!

    https://youtu.be/V2yy141q8HQ

  27. #27
Beck - Loser. 1994 - again, bit of a vintage year and another amazing debut.

    https://youtu.be/YgSPaXgAdzE

This thread is brilliant and a helpful reminder of how shit music is now! I mean, there are still some decent things around but nowhere near as much or as interesting as the '90's.

Makes sense. I remember it from my first year undergrad. According to iTunes The album came out in 1990.

I remember the track from when I was at school, which is why I remember it as being the 80's. I had a look online and Shine On was actually released as a single in 87, but to little impact. It was re-released after they signed to a different label and was on their second album which I think iTunes rightly attributes to 1990. I think that gives it honourable entry onto the '90's list!

Such a crazy time, it felt like a four of most decades, in fast forward. Early, mid and late 90s are completely different eras.

For some reason my mind jumped to Future Sound of London from 1991:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfWMv8Y1V5E

And Sonic youth released this in 1990:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTSUwIZdMk

This was released in 1997 when everything felt like echos of other decades:

So much great content here, but adding virtually everything from the Prodigy, Beastie Boys, Chemical Brothers, the Farm and Happy Monday’s. What a decade for music.

    Another 1991 classic...

Beautiful South - Old red eyes is back

    https://youtu.be/5mUQbHiJqQY

Massive Attack's Blue Lines and Beautiful South's 0898 were probably my most played albums of that year and still get a regular spin nowadays.

This was my favourite single of the 1990s. But it's a decade that gave birth to a lot of fantastic music; the first two Suede albums spring to mind. Kulashaker's first album. Lots of good stuff.

Very much my decade of getting into music so I liked anything and everything.

There were lots of great one hit or one big hit wonders, like
    74-75 by the Connells
Dance the night away by the mavericks
Mmm mmm by crash test dummies
    Steal my sunshine by Len
    Inside by Stiltskin
...And a thousand dance tracks which shaped my nightclubbing hayday.

Slightly OT but I got more into albums in the 90s and recently someone born in the 2000s asked me for some shortcuts to some great 90s albums for Spotify. I sent her this:

August and everything after, Counting Crows
    Debut, Bjork
    Mezzanine, Massive Attack
Music for the jilted generation, The Prodigy
Southern Harmony musical companion, Black Crows
Out of time & Automatic for the people, REM
    Achtung Baby, U2
    Endtroducing, DJ Shadow
    36 Chambers, Wu-Tang
    Moon Safari, Air
    Ten, Pearl Jam

I was 16 in 1990 so had all my best years in this decade, ironically I was single for most of it as all I wanted to do was go out, party a couple times a week and have no commitments, the music from this decade brings back so many memories!

I like too many tunes to pick a favourite but the KLF always trigger good emotions for me as does Mr Vain..
