Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Quite a few fires in east and south london, i’m sure there are more further up the country.
What i find odd is people losing their s***e over extinction rebellion/insulate britain blocking a motorway but the unprecedented heat/fires/flooding is tolerated when the disruption is far greater than any protest.
That will pollute less than a fat lass after a good Curry

So is today the wake up call this damn country needed?
Devastating fire at Wennington this afternoon. Shocking video on sky news houses , cars and a massive area alight.

'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
My reference to the “nanny state” reflects the gov. pointing out the bleeding obvious ie keep in the shade, drink plenty of water etc.
Given the so called ‘lead’ on climate change by Boris et al perhaps advice on creating a fire break in some rural areas would be more appropriate.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Apparently we are all dumb sheep and need media influence and fear mongering to ensure we understand what a hot summer means.
Clearly can’t be trusted with our own common sense and caring for the elderly and young in our own communities.
We are obviously stupid and totally irresponsible.
THANK GOODNESS WE HAVE THE MEDIA TO KEEP US SAFE?
My most sincere condolences buddy. Heart breaking.
I have invited my elderly parents over as we are lucky enough to have fitted air to air heat pumps as well as Solar and batteries, we’ve been able to keep the house; and most importantly my mum & dad safe in this heat. Dad had been to the GP only recently with chest pains. Comfort is one thing but health is impossible to put a price on.
Keep safe all
Back to normal in Manchester already forgot what the Sun looks like.
Back to 20 degrees and cloudy today. Yesterday was without question the hottest day I’ve ever experienced in the UK. Mid to high thirties when you’re in and out of a pool and having a beer is OK but for normal day-to-day work and life it was bloody awful.
I hope everyone is safe and well.
Fortunately my house is like an oven in summer and a freezer in winter, so I get to really enjoy a nice hot spell…;0)

Much more pleasant today thank Gawd!
The last couple of days have been utterly miserable although it's still 25 C indoors.
Able to take Dot out for a nice walk earlier and the breeze was heavenly.
These fires are a bit worrying though - look like things to come unfortunately.
Cheers,
Neil.
Still 30C here. Thunderstorms later tonight (hopefully).
The forest fire to the north made that it smelled like woodburners… in the Summer…
Planes and helicopters with water kept flying over my house until 2AM. Those planes are not selected for their whisper-mode engines. Absolutely a great sound. Sad that they had to be deployed for something terrible as a forest fire.
Cooler here today (22) but struggling to cool the house … the upstairs is really hanging onto the heat! Dreadful.
While many enjoy not having having to pay for flights and accommodation to enjoy 40º heat it’s got quite a few people worried, maybe those who are indifferent to a bit of weather should read this fire brigade controllers opinion.

There have been lots of fires around here caused by discarded disposable barbecues left by visitors which prompted my comment. But I’ve never really understood the appeal of cooking in the garden if I’m honest - creating smoke using coals - or a bottle of gas - when you’ve got an oven and grill indoors? - I prefer to cook the burgers in the kitchen then walk them into the garden on a plate!
