Recommendations for Android tablet with SIM slot?

What are your recommendations for a fast, lightweight, Android tablet with a SIM slot?

I'm not all that familiar with the current Android tablet market but I have a friend who is looking for the magic combination of an Android tablet that is physically resilient (he is out and about a lot), has a SIM slot for mobile connectivity, is fast, has good memory, and is cost effective. Uses will be the predictable Facebook, web browsing, Youtube, and similar.

What are your preferences? (Sorry, Apple not an option. ;-) ).

It need not be a major brand name as long as it does what is needed reliably and decently fast.
