Bizarrely, given what most of us know them for nowadays, 'spicy' pocket-watches used to be a Doxa speciality - many of them are hilarious.

    That is haunting!

If I had a need / want for a dress watch / repeater one of these would be top of the list.
    Wonderfully poor taste.

Yep numerous makers have produced a ‘bonking watch’ I think UN are famed for it though.

Given the above, is Ulysse a decent brand in general?

    Yes, I would say so
Their designs are either love or hate but the quality is up there with JLC etc.
They tend to loose a fair bit on the used market because of the polarising designs but they offer real ‘value for money’ used. (if there is such a thing in this hobby)
The 42mm divers watch is lovely.

Buy them used, they're great. In the last decade they have made some wonderful in house movements too.

My absolute favourite marque. Some serious bargains out there 2nd hand and if you buy savvy they can even make you a few quid.
I have a dual time with the el toro style dial. Which I fell in love with when I saw one for sale here. Earlier this year I added a titanium maxi marine diver with rubber and ceramic strap, time and gems were ceasing to stock them so the deal I got was insanely good. Quality of both is amazing, if you enjoy the slightly quirky styling I’d highly recommend them.
As for the erotic dials, they have a long history and may not be that relevant any longer but it’s good to see a connection with history.
One of the many horological purchases I’d make if money was no object would be a full set of UNs Manara art dials and have a display cabinet made to show them off in my home office.

The Marine Divers are everything I think I would dislike in a watch (sub seconds on a diver, fussy dial, power reserve, fussy bezel insert, strange strap) however I love the look at them in the metal. The Ti one is very smart. I tried one on in Athens Airport a year or so ago. It was very tempting.

I am a fan of this one

My favourite watches too. Very under-rated. The “quieter” designs are best……

That Freak is awesome. They are one of my favourite series of watches.
