I would look at using Shiply to find a suitable personal door to door man/van service.
I've used both Shiply and Parcelforce for amps recently and been very happy with the service.
In my experience of shipping bass guitars, amps, cabs, combos.... they're all pretty terrible! So it's best to package it like you're expecting it to be handled by someone who's almost trying to break it.
That said, Parcelforce have been the best in terms of customer service, from my experience.
