    MilSub for sale

Was browsing and noticed Mike has a MilSub listed on his website for a 'very significant price tag' (the tease..!)

Also a couple of Comex models.

    http://www.theoldwatchshop.com/rolex.html

    I can only dream...

That milsub is a beauty. Wonder how much the asking price is. So is that 5513 comex.

    Full spec 5517 ?

I'd guess around half a big one.

If you were in that league it’s got to be better than a Jacob & Co.

I like Mikes description of the 5517 , where the owners father has had a bash at removing the fixed bars in order to fit a bracelet. I bet at the time he thought he was doing his son a favour and upgrading the watch.

    Some serious watches there.

Is this another signal that the market is topping out?

Always serious watches there. Not a sign of anything.

Who knows, but the seller has only listed a very small part of his collection of similar watches.

I don't detect any panic...and see the milsub and a comex are now reserved

I like how they've styled the website in a vintage feel, takes me back to the 90's.

Would have that any day over a Richard Millie of similar value.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but I agree. It's plain, simple and clear. No unnecessary, showy JS and CSS claptrap that gets in the way of the information. I genuinely wish more websites were like this.

I wonder if Mr Jedly has been dipping his toe in the market again. IG will have the answer in a week or so.

I think Jedly just took delivery of another grail piece - the 3,6,9 king sub. Was on his Instagram. One can only drool.

Mike has that many I don’t think selling a couple will make any difference.

Would you be so kind as to say what Jedly’s instagram account name (handle?) is? I’m not on instagram but would consider creating an account to see his watches. I bought my 5513 off him over 10 years ago.

Yes a little sarky, I remember when Mike posted here a bit. I guess he's getting on a bit and doesn't like change. There's something refreshing in that these days.

    Don't fix what ain't broke. :-)

If selling what Mike is selling, I'd happily introduce a brand new website in that exact style. Why? Because it works perfectly. Modern JS and CSS affectations add nothing of value for such a site.

The Rolex site is an utterly appalling mess, as a counter-example.

But then I'm practical, not old. :-)

Did have a look at a small part of his collection a few years ago and it was something special.

Nor me. Made my eyes water. I wish both the seller and the buyer good health to enjoy and yes, like everyone else , I’m jealous!

What is so special about it please? I like a nice watch but I am not an afficianado. To me it just looks faded and plain.

Probably because of the extremely short run of explorer dials in a submariner?

If people like them so much, why don't they do it anymore? What is the difference between an Explorer and the Submariner? I thought the numbers at 3,6 and 9 were on the Airking.

It’s an almost 70 year old watch , only a few hundred were made in 1954 and it is the first of the big crown submariners , it’s known as the ‘king sub ‘ and for many vintage rolex collectors it’s the pinnacle of Submariner collecting , it really isn’t, there are rarer things for sure but it is very special

To find one full stop is rare , to find one in great original condition like this makes it one of only a handful known in the world .

The quarter Arabic 369 dial is the only design that was used on 6200 , and after that it was only used sparingly on Submariners , seen on a few 6538 early subs , a handful of small crown subs , some specialist military dial subs , and then later in the 1960’s on a some small batches of crown guard submariners for the uk markets .
