    Turning 50

    The watch, not me!

To celebrate the 50th Birthday of my Seiko 6139-6012 in August I decided to take a few new photos this morning.

I love the fact that the Seiko serial number allows the watch to be dated to the month and year.

I was really lucky to find this completely original and in excellent condition 6139 in an estate auction some time ago. It quickly became one of the favorites in my humble collection and I enjoy wearing it fairly often. I will be wearing it for most of this month to celebrate.

That's an absolute beauty OP. Is that the original box? I have a similar box but assumed it was from the 90s.

    Thanks Guys

I too believe the box to be later than the watch. When I acquired the 6139 it was in this box, but there were also a couple of later 80's quartz pieces included in the sale and I suspect the watch was original to one of those.

BTW, I have since restored one of the quartz watches. The other was too far gone.

The older I get the more I prefer the older Seiko's.

My 6138-0011's a close relative, and turned 50 last year. Lovely bit of kit and a great daily wearer.

That's a great watch. I just had this one from April '74 come back from service. It's my Uncle's and he's had it from new.

These are seriously lovely watches. Considering all the Seiko nick names, Pogue UFO etc I'm surprised these are not commonly known as the Bruce Lee.

My Box is from a 90s quartz flight master so that seems about right OP.

Nice UFO. I really like the 6138's and one will be in my collection at some point. Maybe a UFO like yours.

Really nice dial colour on that one. Quite rare I believe.

Who did you use for the service?
