Thread: Old water pump

    Old water pump

Just bought an old cottage for a renovation and now we’ve cleared out a ton of crap we’ve found this in the basement. An old water pump

Any info would be of interest

Probably going to have to remove it as need that wall to be straight to put a bed against it.

That’s a great idea albeit tiny garden. Going to use the outside toilet block for water tank and boiler and meters. Saves space in the cottage.

Just a thought: it's easy enough to uninstall the pump (though personally I'd hate to!), but it's likely there's either a well or rainwater cistern under some coverstones beneath it - that may need infilling, and if it's a rainwater cistern, the rainwater feed to it may still be functional and require diverting elsewhere.

    Does it still work?

    Wow, what a find.

The thing that intrigues me about things like this is what are/were they connected to. E.g. Is it on top of a well, is the well still there, was it piping, where is the piping?
