Pleased with the loan signing of Conor Coady from Wolves. He may not be in the class of VVD, but he is a natural leader and plays 38 games a season on a regular basis. I think that’s a good bit of business for once given where Everton are at present.

Buzzing with Fulham's start to the season - really hope we can capitalise on the good start and get some points on the board.

The last few relegations we've left ourselves way too much to do late on, gotta get those early results to have a chance of staying up this time.

Since when was a minor detail like that important?

    True.
Maybe I should’ve found a couple of MMA highlights videos and wondered how those bloody fairy snooker players would like it .

They won’t all be soft touches like your opening opponents though ;)

Liverpool is a very awkward side to play against, very scrappy. City is almost the polar opposite, their disciplined passing, formation and determination to win are enough for me to tune in, even though I don't support the side.

Haaland is going to be a monster this year, I just worry about his size and speed, which can be a recipe for injuries and a short career.

For those who don't know, there's (generally) very good cartoon strip in the Guardian on a Tuesday.

So it seems like Silva to Barca is finally likely to happen. Good riddance I say, hated him playing against us, always had that game changing ability in him.

Gutted United have ended their interest in Arnautovic, more so now it's rumoured they're in for Sarr instead.

Feel somewhat for ETH, I bet he never thought things would be this desperate.

Sad Timos gone. Okay never really did it goals wise but what a nice guy and his pace always asked questions of defenders.

Not sure about that TBH .
I’d love to know how they keep getting away with it . They are hundreds of million in debt, can’t register new signings, in dispute over payments to existing players, tried to hoodwink La Liga over their TV rights in trying to raise more capital and their wage bill is over 120% of their income .
    It’s baffling .
If that was City or Newcastle , they wouldn’t be allowed to operate .
I can’t see why Bernardo would contemplate heading to that circus .

Added to that the back wages they owe De Jong who doesn’t want to leave and certainly not to United. Barca are atrociously mismanaged. Quite the irony that Feran Soriano’s idea for expansion of Barca brand was rejected by the board which prompted his exit from the club and his ultimate arrival with Txiki at City.

Looking forward to the next round of fixtures, some cracking-looking games this weekend. Sounds like Klopp is pessimistic of midfield reinforcements despite Thiago injury, seems a shame as surely handing initiative to City?

Arsenal face a test against Leicester who are always tough to play, but I'm hoping our excellent set piece record and their seeming inability to defend them helps us along. Always wary of Vardy though, he likes playing us... Let's see how Saliba copes with him.

Fancy Brentford against the shambolic United, especially with Damsgaard who I think is a very clever signing.

Stevie G must be under enormous pressure at Villa - backed him massively in successive windows, stripped the captaincy and dropped the player, and his results in 2022 have not been convincing, with that horrible opening day loss to newly-promoted Bournemouth last weekend being particularly damaging. Will he get one over his old sparring partner Frank Lampard on Saturday? He's got his own worries, hopefully this doesn't make for a turgid affair!

Elsewhere Barca are 'activating' another 'lever', otherwise known as rapidly selling off future earnings to fund today's excesses. This should allow them to register their new signings, add Alonso from Chelsea, and meet the wage cap restrictions laid out by La Liga. Who know what they will do next summer!? Mad.

Completely agree, Stevie G will be under enormous pressure if he doesn't win this one. Next fixtures are Palace (A), West Ham (H), Arsenal (A), and City (H). It's not mad to think they could get nothing from those games, they are all very tough. Would owners stick with Gerrard if that happens?

Judging by 1st half in the Villa/Everton game this is going to be a long season for Everton. Yet more injuries too

Everton have looked a bit stronger 2nd half, still plenty time in this game. They do lack a presence up front with Richarlison gone and DCL injured though.

I think if they can get their key players fit they should stay up but it's hard to see where they will get goals from and their supposed star player Anthony Gordon looks very ordinary

Jeez now Coady is injured. Did Everton recently build a training ground over an ancient Pagan burial ground or something?

Reckon Lampard will be a contender for first to be out of a job, though not all through his own faults.

Everton have been in top flight since the 1950's so it would be a calamity if they did because I don't think they would bounce back up.

Would agree. We could become another Leeds or Forest. Just as long as we don’t do a Sunderland.
