Gary Lineker to step back from presenting Match of the Day
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64920557
Damn only posturing
"Gary Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day until an agreement is reached on his social media use, the BBC has said."
Don't tell 'em yer name Pike Gary
ETA "Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright has said in the last few minutes he won't be appearing on the show tomorrow night.
"Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I’ve told the BBC I won’t be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity," he tweeted.

I’ve offered my services. I can talk nonsense about football with the best of them!
- Saturday's Match of the Day will now "focus on match action without studio presentation or punditry", a BBC spokesperson says
- The news comes after Gary Lineker was told to "step back" from presenting duties by the BBC over his criticism of language used in the government’s new asylum policy
- In a tweet earlier in the week, the Match of the Day host compared the language used to launch the government's migrant policy with 1930s Germany
- The BBC says it considers his recent social media activity to be a breach of its guidelines
- Match of the Day pundits Alan Shearer and Ian Wright responded to the news to say they won't be appearing on MOTD in a show of solidarity with Lineker
- Micah Richards and Alex Scott also took to social media to confirm they won't be involved in the broadcast on Saturday
They’re none of them exactly on the breadline but it’s a high risk strategy threatening to remove your services when most people don’t want them!
Not really bothered what political views they hold but struggle to see how anyone who got money from the Qatar World Cup has a strong position on the moral high ground.

It's no exaggeration to say that Arsenal should be 6-0 up at halftime. Fulham abject
Can someone please tell Fulham they’re allowed to challenge in the box!!
Gabriel Jesus on as sub for Arsenal. Hopefully he will be decisive in the final weeks of the season
Great time to have him back.

Will Will Still still be at Reims next year? Surely a PL job beckond?
Utterly disgraceful refereeing in the Newcastle game. Pope and Burn should both have been sent off and Wolves should have had a pen. Something stinks as both those were so obvious that something behind the scenes is happening - it's simply not possible to not see those decisions in the way the officials did without coercion. Both far more obvious than Casemiro's red.
Have you heard yourself? Utter garbage. The universal dislike for Newcastle and our owners is widely acknowledged. The EPL would hate us to be successful and would never give coercive decisions in our favour.
Pope and Raul clashed bodies. No on-field official thought it was a pen and neither did VAR. As for Burn I don’t even know what you’re referring to.
I've no qualms with Newcastle and their owners. I like Newcastle as a football club and the support the fans give through thick and thin.
But I'm sorry Pope should have been sent off and a penalty given to Wolves. Re Dan Burn he followed through onto Neves' ankle and whilst not as clear cut as the Pope red card it was no worse than what Casemiro did against Southampton.
Didn't see the Pope one till 5 mins ago. Red card all day long, one player running towards goal, keeper running towards player, look at Pope's face, he thought it was a red card too.
But it's all about inconsistent referee's

For the record I like Newcastle, always have and the new owners don’t bother me either.

As I said earlier, it wasn’t just VAR, none of the on-field officials saw it a red either and in fact the ref waved it away immediately. Yes I’ve seen those given but they obviously saw it as a clash of bodies with no intent. VAR didn’t even ask the ref to look at the monitor.
Have a look at Edison’s assault on Ryan Fraser last season which wasn’t given either. If that one wasn’t a pen then nothing is.
Oh come on
They were nothing like each other .
Fraser didn’t have the ball , was never in control of the ball and was never going to get the bloody ball . Cancelo had already strolled off with the thing when Frazer collided with Edison ( who ? )
Pope took him out yesterday and he knew it . You could see it on his face .
For the record I wanted Toon to win but don’t compare apples with jumbo jets

Very good!
BTW the only team to ever have more points at this stage of a PL season than Arsenal do currently? Liverpool. In their title winning season after 27 games they'd only dropped 2 points. That's insane!
