Seems little old Citeh aren’t doing too bad in the ‘big club’ stakes .

I’ve always thought that the large clubs’ fan base starts with children.
Children want to be associated with success, far less likely to get pelters at school if ‘your’ team doesn’t lose much - so start to proclaim allegiance to the likes of ManU, Liverpool etc (and Rangers/Celtic in Scotland). Meanwhile teams like Grimsby get little support by the kids - and that transfers to adulthood.
Used to be in the USA, that NFL teams had local allegiance for life (until the owners moved the teams) and if Green Bay were your local team as a kid- you stuck with them. Part of that, of course - was the possibility of the division title or Super Bowl wins due to the structure of draft picks.

‘Sigh’
Anything to back that up or did your mate tell you he read it on Twitter?
Feel free to post City’s attendance average if it makes you feel better . I’d go into the dynamics of City’s support and how the club approach it but it’ll be wasted on you .
Maybe we should target fans from the Emerald Isle and become huge .
Rubbish! We were doing an impression of Spurs before Abramovich arrived.
Regular top six finishers, good cup runs domestically and in Europe.
Abramovich bought Chelsea because we had qualified for the Champions League again. Had we not have beaten Liverpool in the final game of the season he may well have bought them instead.
I have no issue with Chelsea being the small club from West London. Although we have won everything a club can win. Not many can say that.

I've been to the Etihad in the home area, empty seats around me, lots of foreign football tourist types elsewhere, infact I hardly heard a Manc accent the whole game. I'm not suggesting City are a poorly supported team, but you can hardly accuse Utd /Liverpool fans of being Disneyland fans when the owners of the Etihad have basically turned City into the same business model.
Dreadful from Liverpool, we just don’t have the squad to handle the injuries.
Curtis Jones isn’t at the level and Carvahlo and Elliot should be getting as many minutes they are.
As for people not think forest don’t deserved to be mention as a big club that’s crazy.
2 European cups, European super cup, 4 league cups in that time.
City can’t even win 1 European cup after spending 1.5 billion.

Plus Liverpool fans actions have resulted in the deaths of way more opposing fans in Europe than any other England team and actually got English teams banned from Europe. Massive club.
No mention of West Ham in the "big clubs" debate?
They won the FA cup in '64
European cup winners cup in '65
And the World Cup in '66.
Cheers,
Neil.
Getting back to actual football, good start for Everton from DCL.
In the 40 years since only Chelsea and United have matched Notts Forest in 2 European cups.

All this ‘big club’ talk is just bollocks from the supporters of (what they think are) the historic ‘big clubs’.
They were just fortunate in the timing of becoming a ‘big club’.
We could add Huddersfield, Blackpool, & Preston in the English big club category…
…but they were around & successful before the mega-money came to English football.
Liverpool, Mun U etc are just the ‘big clubs’ from the era where mass media and tv provided them a global audience & the finances to stay ‘big clubs’. …& they spent big, to maintain their position when others couldn’t afford to.
Other clubs could not compete with that spending power - so these ‘big clubs’ had & maintained their advantage.
To break into those echelons of football now requires serious investment
… & recently, some clubs have received that from their new owners.
To argue now that these clubs who have received investment & become successful aren’t worthy of the title ‘big club’ is just sour grapes. Liverpool fans particularly, don’t like the fact that there a some (previously successful) clubs that have returned to the top table & can now compete for the best players & win competitions.
…IMHO of course.

About bloody time. How many times have I watched Everton 1-0 up trying to defend their lead for most of the match. Great to see them 3-0 up and I can enjoy the last 5 mins.
I wish we could play Palace every week
I think City and Newcastle would find it hard to reach the heights of Man U and Liverpool.
All these fans in the Far East have their team, their kids will follow dad’s team. Not many new fans for the oil rich clubs to hoover up.
How can McTominay remotely expect to get away with that
Should be fined a month's wages
lunacy
A crappy drew between two at best mid table sides been a CFC fan for over sixty years and there is just so much missing with this current team
I FEEL LIKE I'M DIAGONALLY PARKED IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
Great series of results for Arsenal today. Liverpool lose, draw between Chelsea and United and City win to keep us on our toes and stop us becoming complacent. Spurs/Newcastle tomorrow will of course see at least one of those teams drop points as well although I reckon Spurs will beat them fairly comfortably. Fancy a 2-0 win for Arsenal at Saints.
