I never understand why they didn't just sack him - he had only months to go on his contract so Payout wasn't huge and if it was me I'd enjoy telling the 2 faced arse to go fark himself and that he was sacked for gross misconduct while explaining that legal action for defamation was on its way.

What exactly has he done to be sacked for gross misconduct? He gave a press conference where he stated the management has been in power for 20 years and won nothing, not a great look but factually correct. He called out the players as he has done before. Not sure there are any grounds for gross misconduct that would stand up to any sort of legal challenge, pay him up and separate, best all round

I'm more worried that united are going to spank 100m on a 30 year old!!!!

Defamation is the act of communicating to a third party false statements about a person, place, or thing that results in damage to its reputation.
Did he say anything that was false?

Communicating such things publically including criticising players and owners comes under this category of Gross Misconduct IMHO. It certainly will get you the boot in most other clubs - witness Scott Parker at Bournemouth for example

Your opinion is fine. Defamation is a legal term that has nothing to do with opinion, the burden of proof is high.
A press conference is a professional obligation so even GM would be shaky: mutual agreement is definitely best way, no dirty linen in public, no bridges burnt further. Better for the team that doesn’t need that sort of distraction, for the owner who doesn’t want too much limelight on his record (how many trophies ? How many managers?) and better for Conte, as bad blood and acrimony do not reflect well.

It doesn't get you 'the boot'. At worst it gets you a letter outlining your leaving package and non-disclosure terms and a conversation with the CEO explaining why you should definitely sign it.

People don't get fired at that level, they get 'exited'.

  7. #3057
some of our players should get the boot for gross misconduct and fraudulently obtaining payment for services imho

Just back from Hampden and totally agree with you Ryan Made sweeter by Rodri's bitter interview after, take that!!! Hopefully KT injury isn't serious and he can rejoin the Arsenal squad and make Rodri cry again come end of the season.

Where do City keep unearthing these gems like Grealish, De Bruyne, Haaland etc?

All FFP shenanigans aside, what a team City are. They’ve been magnificent today, men against boys. Their football is as good as it gets. Grealish has been unplayable today and thoroughly deserved his goal.

Knowing the vast purchasing power that City have I should imagine agents come knocking knowing they will get top money?

To be fair to our 'noisy neighbours', De Bruyne has already flopped at Chelsea, nobody knew if Grealish could be better than 'good at Villa' and I hear they play better without Haaland.

You'll never hear me say this out loud but I do enjoy watching them play.

    Meh !
Good team beat mid table mediocrity by a few goals after giving them a start is to be expected . We’ve got tougher games coming up v Fulham and Leicester.

    A couple of points .
Jack proving to be quite the bargain .
Haaland s celebration obviously means he’s off to Madrid .
Bellingham will be chomping at the bit now .
No Foden, no Haaland, no problem .
Watching Klopp throw on the money grabbing weasel Milner was hilarious .
    Enjoy the Thursday cup .

A few weeks ago the Scouse were now seemingly unstoppable after wiping the floor with Utd, funny how things change so quickly. Today they were given the complete runaround and often toyed with like a pet kitten.

Arsenal have been absolute doggy doo doo against Leeds but somehow find themselves leading 1-0 due to an iffy Jesus penalty. Saka rested due to exhaustion having played the whole of both England games. Thanks Southgate for your consideration - I'm sure our players won't be coming up with mystery knocks before future England games

3-0 now Arsenal, worth pushing for more. Both Top 2 sides in action today against mid-table/bottom of table sides so a good chance to bolster goal difference before they play the big teams

Not watching my shower playing Villa decided on Bayern vs Dortmund and hope Raffe is enjoying it

As an aside Bayern have the head teacher now and we have the PE assistant.

What's the milner money grabbing weasel jibe about?

  29. #3079
City were superb today but Liverpool were poor in the 2nd half. Klopp needs to refresh the squad.

Great to see Grealish playing so well, he was outstanding today. Alvarez at £14m is an absolute steal and great bit of business by City in getting him to extend his contract till 2028, especially with Haaland at the club.

Presumably leaving City on a free to join Liverpool for bigger wages.

Probably the same as anyone else would do, but you know, football innit!

I can’t argue with that. The writing j the walk for midfield has been there for a while and some competition for Trent. The front are fine though.

I almost felt sorry for the pro-Chelsea commentator on Sky, having to spend 97 minutes trying to big them up and talk down the mighty Villa.

Chelsea need to sack Potter and get Nagelsmann ASAP before someone else . It would also make the Champs League game very interesting if they both progress .!!

But he is surely going Spurs, now that Levy has made clear Poch is not welcome back allegedly.

Liverpool have been poor all season and were not great against Man U when they hammered them a few weeks ago. As somebody else has pointed out Man U are just not as far down the progress road as many would have you believe.

Despite us being as poor as we have I still feel like we may be the title deciders this year.

Chance to get back into the PL though. Seemingly Levy has vetoed Poch going back to Spurs and Poch would never get the Chelsea job.

Unfortunately Potter will still be in place until next season. I would hazard a guess at 10 or 11 games before Boehly finally bins him
