I guess they’ve been getting all the legal stuff sorted. It’s quicker if they’re sacked as that’ll be covered in the contract but there’ll be things to sort out on mutual agreement terms. I’m surmising.

I never understand why they didn't just sack him - he had only months to go on his contract so Payout wasn't huge and if it was me I'd enjoy telling the 2 faced arse to go fark himself and that he was sacked for gross misconduct while explaining that legal action for defamation was on its way.

What exactly has he done to be sacked for gross misconduct? He gave a press conference where he stated the management has been in power for 20 years and won nothing,not a great look but factually correct. He called out the players as he has done before. Not sure there are any grounds for gross misconduct that would stand up to any sort of legal challenge, pay him up and separate, best all round

Defamation is the act of communicating to a third party false statements about a person, place, or thing that results in damage to its reputation.

Communicating such things publically including criticising players and owners comes under this category of Gross Misconduct IMHO. It certainly will get you the boot in most other clubs - witness Scott Parker at Bournemouth for example

Your opinion is fine. Defamation is a legal term that has nothing to do with opinion, the burden of proof is high.
A press conference is a professional obligation so even GM would be shaky: mutual agreement is definitely best way, no dirty linen in public, no bridges burnt further. Better for the team that doesn’t need that sort of distraction, for the owner who doesn’t want too much limelight on his record (how many trophies ? How many managers?) and better for Conte, as bad blood and acrimony do not reflect well.

It doesn't get you 'the boot'. At worst it gets you a letter outlining your leaving package and non-disclosure terms and a conversation with the CEO explaining why you should definitely sign it.

People don't get fired at that level, they get 'exited'.

Just back from Hampden and totally agree with you Ryan Made sweeter by Rodri's bitter interview after, take that!!! Hopefully KT injury isn't serious and he can rejoin the Arsenal squad and make Rodri cry again come end of the season.
