I'm sure for some here £10,000 is pocket change and for others this is an academic exercise, but, while a few watches here are ones I admire greatly (Fifty Fathoms, El Primero), I can't actually imagine ever spending 10k on any watch...
I'm sure a few years ago, you could get an El Primero for far less than that couldn't you?

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I was at terminal 2 recently and looked at Glashutte. I tried on a Senator and have to say it blew me away. It looked awesome and when you picked it up, you new you had something very special in your hands. I will be thinning down my collection to get one.

ive got a 33 year old 16610, so I would say yes.
I thought anything over 25 years old was considered vintage in the watch world.

Any Omega master chronometer. Metas certified coaxial movement and magnetic resistance up to 15000 Gauss. All from a company with a real and lengthy heritage, particularly in the tool watch arena.
Tough as old boots and accurate as hell. I love mine.
...but if you then need to factor in after-sales service and reliability - you're down to Omega and Grand Seiko. :)

There's been another model hanging around in the back of mind which combines a fairly classic model reference alongside some of the best new design / colour combinations I've seen in a long time.

But buying new - the new jlc polaris in olive green is glorious and I want one badly. Posting from phone so can't add an image but Google it.
I also have a really soft spot for the apollo 8 above. Absolutely LOVE IT and have had 2, but ultimately my eyes don't read the time on it easily as the hands are slim and sink into the dial. So I would say great if you weren't half blind like i am.

Actually that is another superb call. I recall missing out on the Ltd Edition Polaris with blue dial that sold on SC about 3-4 years ago and regretted not going for it. Then when I saw the new green one it definitely made me a little bit giddy as well.
The only real conclusion I'm coming up with now is that I actually need closer to £35-£40k to buy in no particular order.
1. IWC Pilots Chrono bronze
2. JLC Polaris Green
3. Breitling Datora B25 (or B15 Duograph)
4. BP FF
5. Omega Apollo 8 Dark Side

Got an Apollo 8 earlier in the year as an anniversary gift. Very pleased with it and no wait times to boot.

Yep correct. Saw it in person and it is lovely and has an upgraded movement compared to the black version. It's a lot of money and the bezel is a tad easy to turn however
Thankfully I'm not convinced on the Polaris white date window - a shade of cream to match the markers might have been better. Lovely olive dial though.
£8,300 - and that without Memovox - something to admire from a distance.

Yep I felt it was overpriced. Beautiful but one to pick up once they become available on the secondary market.
Obviously I'd never claim that £8,300 for a watch was decent value but aren't they are all horribly overpriced these days?
Assuming JLC sits above the Omega/Breitling/TAG in terms of watch making heritage but below the holy trinity then it feels about right to me.......OK well £6-7k would feel more right!

The zenith for sure, I tried on one recently and it looks fantastic.Had the Bathyscape - fantastic watch and quality wise the best I've owned but lug-lug was a tad too big for me.
I'd go for a GO Panomatic or the Zenith Chronomaster Sport

It does amaze me that several of the FF models are still available with decent discounts. There are several dealers who list on Chrono24 who will source a new watch for well below list price and the £10k stated on this thread.
If I ever buy another watch (unlikely to be honest) then there are dozens of Reversos to choose from and they look classy.
Many ADs offering discounts but Harrods won't because of the client base. But the JLC and IWC will be readily available at 15-20% off. If the recession does hit it is anyone's guess.
