So a car with a £39k list price would be the standard £165. If you spec extras so that the price goes over £40k, does it then attract the additional payment?Vehicles with a list price of more than £40,000
You have to pay an extra £355 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000. You do not have to pay this if you have a zero emission vehicle.
You only have to pay this rate for 5 years (from the second time the vehicle is taxed).
Check the list price with your dealer so you know how much vehicle tax you’ll have to pay.

looks like 2017 onwards i think, they are rip off merchants.
My household pays about £3000 in council and road tax to the Gov and in winter they refuse to grit the 3 miles of road from our house to the nearest main road.
They dont repair the pot holes either so your car gets wrecked.
My Honda's RFL is at £615* annually, at least your's will go down.
